Reviewing the cast album for Ain't Too Proud, the new bio-musical tracing the origins of the Motown vocal group the Temptations, is an unusually tricky task. How does one really review music that has been iconic in the pop lexicon for half a century? For the most part, the original cast recording is a mixture of straightforward covers, interspersed with bits of dialogue so that it doesn't appear just as a cover album. Thanks to a ridiculously talented cast, it pretty much succeeds.

'Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of The Temptations' opened on March 21, at Broadway's Imperial Theatre. As per Broadway tradition, the Legacy Robe was awarded to the ensemble member with the most Broadway credits, in this case, E. Clayton Cornelious!

Last night, the cast of the Broadway musical 'Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations' sang a special medley performance of 'Get Ready' and 'Ain't Too Proud to Beg' for the Tonight Show audience.

This televised performance will tape mere moments before the new Broadway musical's Opening Night performance is scheduled to begin.

The Original Broadway Cast Recording of the new musical Ain't Too Proud The Life and Times of The Temptations will be released by UMe this spring. The album, which was recorded earlier this year, is available for pre-orders beginning today, and will be released on March 21 on physical CDs, sold exclusively at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street), with the digital album available on March 22. The CD will be available in wide release on April 19, and a double-LP vinyl will be available on June 7.
