Review: THE HARDER THEY COME, Theatre Royal Stratford East

One minute you’re in an East London street, the next you are immediately transported to early-1970s Kingston: the style, the sounds, the rhythms, the smell of ambition and frustration. The Harder They Come at Stratford East is a vivid, energetic production that honours the cult classic film while breathing new life into it.

Review: THE CODE, Southwark Playhouse Elephant

Michael McKeever's play mixes fact, gossip, and invention in a spicy drama that offers a biting comment on the grime behind the glitter of Hollywood. John Partridge is superb as Billy Haines, both a smooth charmer and a crumpled defeatist. The Code is a very artificial play in many ways. It gleefully regurgitates snark and gossip and treads a line where folks have to 'put on a show' within a show.

Review: EVERY BRILLIANT THING, Starring Sue Perkins, @sohoplace

Every Brilliant Thing, now on in the West End, never be the same show, so it could be watched 10 times, 100 times, a million and still reach deep into the heart of you. It won't be for everyone. It may come across as over-sentimental or simplistic to some. I'm not one of those people.

Review: EVERY BRILLIANT THING, Starring Ambika Mod, @sohoplace

Ambika Mod, of This Is Going to Hurt and One Day fame, is pretty perfect casting for the part. Exuding warmth and approachability, she handles the play’s demands with the ideal balance of humanity and confidence, putting audiences immediately at ease. She never feels like she’s fully playing a role, but rather telling a story.

Photos/Video: THE HUNGER GAMES: ON STAGE in Rehearsal

New rehearsal photos and video have been released for the first-ever stage adaptation of Suzanne Collins’s book The Hunger Games and Lionsgate’s hit motion picture of the same name. Check out the photos and video here!

Review: INVASIVE SPECIES, King's Head Theatre

This is a show that thrives because of the urgency of its subject matter and the excellence of the artists delivering it. For an industry that has yet to put the care of its actors at the heart of its practice, Novi’s piece doesn’t close the conversation - it sparks it.

Review: THE ENORMOUS CROCODILE, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre

Roald Dahl’s beastly reptile slithers into Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in a dazzling musical version which proves as entertaining for adults as it is for the children it is written for. With a witty book and lyrics by Suhayla El-Bushra, infectious songs by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, and a playful design which bursts with colour, this is a joyful piece of family theatre which fizzes with invention and charm.

Downstage Center with Howard Sherman: Magic To Do

xIn the city where Houdini once extricated himself from a straitjacket while dangling upside down above Times Square, it’s surprising that we don’t get major magic acts on stage more often than we do in New York. This relative paucity is thrown into relief when magic, illusion, escape and the like actually do take up residence on New York stages, as is the case right now with Lord Nil extricating himself from threat of the Seven Deadly Sins at Stage 42 while just eight blocks uptown Jamie Allan is conjuring motorcycles and reams of playing cards at New World Stages with his show Amaze.

Review: SAVING MOZART, The Other Palace

Saving Mozart has created an enticing musical and visual universe, and the culture of 18th century court musicians is promising territory for musical theatre. However, the show needs to decide if it’s Amadeus: The Musical or a feminist retelling of a well known story, rather than landing awkwardly somewhere in between.

Review: BRIXTON CALLING, Southwark Playhouse Borough

When a business venture begins with “a single British pound pushed across the desk” and leads to iconic musicians like Bruce Springsteen performing at the venue, one knows they’re in for a good story. Brixton Calling is a play, written by Alex Urwin and directed by Bronagh Lagan, that tells the story of how Simon Parkes (Max Runham) fell in love with the decrepit Astoria Variety Cinema and made it his goal to transform it into a music venue where everyone could feel free to let loose and be themselves - not a seat in sight.

Review: THE WHITE CHIP, Southwark Playhouse

The recent statistics surrounding alcohol consumption in the UK are frankly staggering. Across the four nations, around 80% of adults are regular drinkers, and a significant number of them drink way above the Chief Medical Officers’ low-risk guidelines. The country’s drinking culture is out of hand and few of us pay it much mind. Shows like The White Chip burst onto the scene in a blaze of counter-action, reframing a problem that is standard behaviour for many. After all, how can you let loose without sipping on something?

LES MIS, THE ARENA SPECTACULAR Heads to Singapore

Part of the show’s 40th-anniversary celebrations, Cameron Mackintosh’s 'Les Miserables, The Arena Spectacular' will play at the Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, in March 2026. The production has toured the UK, Europe, Australia, and some parts of Asia with a large international cast and orchestra conducted by Adrian Kirk and new designs by Matt Kinley.

REVIEW: *UPDATED FOR ALTERNATE LEADS* The LES MISÉRABLES THE ARENA SPECTACULAR Is A Breathtaking Celebration of The 40th Anniversary Of The Famous Musical

In celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Claude-Michel Schönberg (Book & Music), Alain Boublil (Concept, Book & Original French Lyrics)  and Herbert Kretzmer (Lyrics) musical theatre adaptation of Victor Hugo’s novel, LES MISÉRABLES THE ARENA SPECTACULAR is a captivating, staged concert designed for large venues.

Review: KIM'S CONVENIENCE, Pavilion Theatre

Now a global smash hit, this hilarious and heartwarming drama about a family-run Korean store that inspired the Netflix phenomenon, is written by Ins Choi, who calls the play his 'love letter to his parents and to all first-generation immigrants who now call Canada their home.'
