Midnight Theatricals has announced the launch of a Virtual Reading Series focused on developing new work with playwrights, actors, directors, and other creatives. Some Broadway performers have signed on for the series, including Hadestown stars Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney.
The Playwrights' Center is continuing its commitment to developing playwrights and new work through their Core Writers program. Seven of the country's most thrilling playwrights are joining the program. The 2020-2023 Core Writers are Sharon Bridgforth, Mashuq Mushtaq Deen, Andrew Rosendorf, Riti Sachdeva, Charly Evon Simpson, Crystal Skillman, and Jonathan Spector.

Pulp Vérité, a new play by playwright Crystal Skillman will receive a 29-hour reading with the award-winning The Workshop Theater. The presentation will culminate in two readings on March 6th at 3 and 7 PM, at the A.R.T/NY studios (520 8th Avenue), in the Bruce Mitchell Room. The reading is free, and reservations can be made at www.workshoptheater.org.

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 40 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2020 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 15 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.
