The Orchard Project, the world-renowned theatre accelerator, is proud to announce the appointment of Abby Marcus as its Managing Director effective immediately.

New York Theatre Barn's 12th season launches with its signature New Works Series on Monday, February 4th, 2019, presenting pre-premieres of two new musicals. Bonnie Milligan (Head Over Heels) and Zachary Noah Piser (Dear Evan Hansen, Sweeney Todd, Wicked) lead the cast of Postcard American Town, which will be presented with the musical Ramona.

A Class Act NY, the award-winning acting studio, will produce a concert presentation of PSYKIDZ: A New Musical by award-winning composer and lyricist Bobby Cronin on Sunday, January 20th at the historic Triad Theatre in Manhattan. The creative team includes producers Jessica R. Grosman and Jonathan Grosman, director Lauren Cohn, and music director Sean Mayes.

The San Diego State University MFA Musical Theatre Program has launched an innovative two-year development program dedicated to fostering the creation of new musicals. Last week marked the world premiere of Mary and Max, a touching story of friendship and the ultimate power of words. I was grateful to sit in the audience and experience the magic of opening weekend at Theatre Calgary.

Theatre Calgary is preparing to open Mary and Max - A New Musical, the second world premiere of the 2018-19 season, with music and lyrics by Bobby Cronin, book by Crystal Skillman, directed by Theatre Calgary's Artistic Director Stafford Arima, choreography by Jenn Rapp, and orchestrations and music supervision by Anna Ebbesen.

"When I saw the movie, I was just like: 'I get you, I so get you'… When I did Wicked we used to say 'everyone has a little green in them.' And that's what I feel like Max is about. Even though he has a diagnosed condition, everyone feels, you know, uncomfortable in their skin at some point. So that, I related to right away and just, the idea of connection."

The reading will be directed by Broadway Actor Lauren Elder and produced by ACANY Artistic Director Jessica R. Grosman and Jonathan Grosman.

Socratic Theatre Collective is proud to bring Crystal Skillman's Geek! to the Toronto Fringe Festival. Geek!, a high energy celebration of geekiness of all flavours, sees anime fans Danya and Honey on a quest to meet their hero, manga creator Joto Samagashi. Along the way, they must fight their way through a massive anime convention, a steampunk army, jealous frenemies, and overcome the absence of Honey's sister Ellen.

Project Y Theatre Company presents the World Premiere of TRUTH/DARE by Emmy nominee Tori Keenan-Zelt. The play, which was selected for Kilroy's Long List in 2014, will be directed by Andrew William Smith. Previews begin May 30 at IRT Theatre in the West Village, with opening slated for Saturday, June 2.
