The Television Academy Foundation announced the winners of the 39th College Television Awards, which recognizes and rewards excellence in student-produced programs from colleges and universities nationwide.

Andy Borowitz, The New York Times best-selling author and comedian who has written for The New Yorker since 1998, is taking his satirical news column on the road and will be donating all the proceeds from his exclusive tour merchandise to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), which responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises.

TIME'S UP Entertainment—an affiliate within TIME'S UP's expanding coalition of women across industries working toward safe, fair and dignified workplaces— announced “WHO'S IN THE ROOM,” a new initiative aimed at transforming the executive and producer pipeline across the entertainment industry. The initiative will be initially funded by a $500,000 grant from CBS. 

The Country Music Association has today announced its new Board of Directors for both CMA and the CMA Foundation. The appointments are effective on Jan. 1, 2019. 

The 32nd ISRAEL FILM FESTIVAL in Los Angeles, the largest showcase of Israeli films in the United States, ended on a huge high note with its biggest audience in over three decades.  The programming consisted of 40 narrative films, documentaries, television series and shorts, including many U.S. and West Coast Premieres along with 25 leading Israeli filmmakers and actors in attendance. For the first time, the Festival awarded to the Audience Choice Award winners $100,000, granted by Festival sponsors BCL Finance Group, TUNNEL Post and Opus Post Production.  The funds will be divided among the winning filmmakers to produce their next films.

American Girl Live, an all-new musical inspired by the popular characters from American Girl owned by Mattel, Inc., will celebrate its world premiere at The North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie (9501 Skokie Blvd.), Dec. 21-23, 2018. The cast of American Girl Live includes Jenna Bruce as Rebecca, Ashley Diane as Luciana, Laila E. The Nashville Association of Talent Directors' (NATD) 8th Annual Honors Gala honored some of the best in their respective fields for their accomplishments and services to the Nashville entertainment industry: Country Music Hall of Fame member and Grand Ole Opry star Bill Anderson, legendary CAA agent Stan Barnett, award-winning Christian band MercyMe, Variety Attractions' George Moffett, President & CEO of TPAC Kathleen O'Brien, legendary APA agent Ray Shelide. Showtime Networks Inc. has announced that Jennifer Pappalardo has joined the company in the role of Senior Vice President, Photography. Based in Los Angeles, Pappalardo will oversee the creative direction, production and distribution of photography for SHOWTIME® and its original programming, red carpet coverage and corporate and trade events. The announcement was made today by Johanna Fuentes, Executive Vice President, Communications, to whom Pappalardo will report.

The critically praised and award-winning LGBTQ themed films The Cakemaker and Family in Transition will each screen at the 32nd Israel Film Festival in Los Angeles, taking place November 6th – 20th. The Cakemaker, which had its U.S. premiere at last year's Festival, will have encore screenings this year in celebration of the film being named Israel's Official Selection for the 2019 Academy Awards for Best Foreign Film, and the documentary Family in Transition will have its West Coast Premiere.

Last night, the 13th Annual NBCUniversal SHORT FILM FESTIVAL, which celebrates diverse stories while finding the next generation of storytellers, honored its six finalist films and filmmakers with a finale screening and awards ceremony at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood.

Comedian-actor Zainab Johnson (“Late Night with Seth Meyers,” HBO's “All Def Comedy”) is set to host the finale screening and awards ceremony of the 13th Annual NBCUniversal SHORT FILM FESTIVAL on October 24, 2018 at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood. The festival which is part of the network's talent infusion programs (NBC TIPS) celebrates diverse stories while finding the next generation of storytellers. Festival alumni include Steven Caple Jr. (“Creed 2”), Hasan Minhaj (“The Daily Show”), Randall Park (“Fresh Off the Boat”) and Simone Missick (“Luke Cage”).

Multi-Academy Award nominated and Emmy Award winning producer Jason Blum, founder of Blumhouse Productions, and award-winning Israeli director/screenwriter Avi Nesher, will be honored on November 6th at the 2018 Opening Night Gala of the 32nd ISRAEL FILM FESTIVAL in Los Angeles with the 2018 IFF Achievement in Film and TV Award and the 2018 IFF Cinematic Achievement Award, respectively. The honors, to take place at the Steve Tisch Cinema Center at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, will immediately be followed by the Opening Night West Coast Gala Premiere screening of Nesher's new film, The Other Story, announced Israel Film Festival Founder/Executive Director Meir Fenigstein. Serving as Honoree Chairman of the Festival is Arnon Milchan, owner of New Regency Productions.
