George Wein is known the world over as producer and co-founder of the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals, but it is playing the piano that first stole his heart nearly nine decades ago. Newport Festivals Foundation (NFF) will present George Wein in One More Once, a free Bridgefest concert in celebration of his life as a musician and his love for Newport, on Thursday, August 1, 6:30 pm, on the Quad Stage at Fort Adams State Park.

On July 9th, 1965 Frank Sinatra performed at the Forest Hills Tennis Stadium with The Count Basie Orchestra conducted by Quincy Jones.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band has announced the release of their new album A Tuba To Cuba, the soundtrack to the critically acclaimed documentary directed by T.G. Herringtonand Danny Clinch, out June 28, 2019 via Sub Pop. Today, they have released the track “Keep Your Head Up” from the album. On Saturday, July 6, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) continues its Jazz Masters music series with the Marshall McDonald Jazz Project featuring McDonald, a 30-year veteran of the New York jazz scene, and his band. Joining McDonald will be James Weidman on piano, Nori Naraoka on bass, and George Coleman Jr. on drums. The band will perform two sets at 7:30 and 9 pm at WCT, 23 Water Street in Ossining.

Flashback to 1966 Las Vegas & join powerhouse vocalist Chris Pinnella along with a 14-Piece Big Band as they perform the iconic live album 'Sinatra at the Sands' from beginning to end.  Featuring the Quincy Jones & Count Basie arrangements as heard on the album.

The fourth Musco Center for the Arts season at Chapman University will run September 2019 through May 2020 with a packed schedule of artists and groups from the worlds of opera, dance, theatre, and classical music as well as Broadway, jazz, country, and American roots music. Among the special events will be several spectacular holiday celebrations, culturally specific performances and festivals, and a live orchestra accompaniment of Disney's Pixar movie music to screened excerpts from the studio's most popular films.

Multiple-GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter Rob Thomas has announced the second leg of his North American Chip Tooth Tour, supporting his fourth solo album Chip Tooth Smile (available now via Emblem/Atlantic Records). The 18 new dates will kick off August 16th in Port Chester, NY for a second night at Capitol Theatre and continue through end of September, featuring special guest Max Frost (select shows only). The tour's first leg is set to kick off May 28th in Red Bank, NJ at the Count Basie Center for the Arts and will continue through early August.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra announces the 2019 NJSO Edward T. Cone Composition Institute composers and their winning works. The composers include Dan Caputo (USC) with his work Liminal, Patrick O'Malley (USC) with his work Rest and Restless, Iv n Enrique Rodr guez (Juilliard) with his work A Metaphor for Power and Bora Yoon (Princeton) with her work The Encyclopedia of Winds.

The 14th annual Shubert Foundation/Music Theatre International Broadway Junior Student Finale will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 10:45 a.m. at Broadway's Imperial Theatre

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Xian Zhang close the 2018-19 classical season with a pair of blockbuster orchestral works-Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony and selections from Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream-June 6-9.
