Dear Readers, I’m baaack! It’s been months since we’ve spoken or even since I’ve been in a theater due to a medical issue that’s kept me homebound. So, one of my favorite shows, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s bloody masterpiece “Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”, currently playing at the 5th Avenue Theatre, felt like a great choice to dip my toes back in the theatrical waters. And I’m happy to report it was a mostly fantastic return. I say, “mostly” as while it was a super solid production, especially from a tight and gifted ensemble, there was one element, and a rather large one at that, that kept me from being truly immersed in this macabre world. But we’ll come to that in a bit.

Tampa Repertory Theatre has announced the cast for its production of Arthur Miller's Tony Award-winning drama All My Sons. The play will run June 1-18, 2023 at the USF Theatre Centre.

The Metropolitan Opera will close out its 2022–23 season with Don Giovanni, starting May 5, and Die Zauberflöte, starting May 19. Nathalie Stutzmann will make her Met debut as conductor of both works, with Ivo van Hove directing Don Giovanni and Simon McBurney staging Die Zauberflöte—also both making their Met debuts.

The new Charlotte Ballet production of PETER PAN, choreographed by Christopher Stuart, is the most inclusive and politically correct I've seen, retaining sets and costumes from previous editions while completely changing the music. Plenty of delightful surprises and only one SOS: it's a no-fly zone.

The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) has announced that Jherrard Hardeman has been named its new Assistant Conductor (The Louise and Henry Epstein Family Education and Community Engagement Chair). Hardeman will also serve as Music Director of the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (RPYO).
