Come From Away is coming to the Stranahan Theater in Toledo. This production is a part of the BROADWAY IS BACK IN TOLEDO SERIES and will take the stage for eight performances from January 4-9, 2022.

When everyone was experiencing devastation on 9/11/2001, the town of Gander in Newfoundland, Canada was accepting passengers from 38 planes full of people who had been detoured from their various destinations. Come From Away tells this true story. The musical follows the five days the “Come From Aways” stayed in Gander as they try and contact their loved ones and deal with the heartbreaking news that was happening in the states.

It is such an exciting time with Broadway reopened. I spent a day recently in New York City and the hustle and bustle of the theatre district reminded me of why I love the city and Broadway in particular. I have seen a measly 73 shows on Broadway or ones that are part of a Broadway tour and I have ranked them all in the order that I love/like them. One of those shows that has remained in the top 10 since I first witnessed its magical artistry is “Come From Away.” So, I jumped at the chance to see it again at the Van Wezel.

 Award-winning composer and writer Bobby Cronin’s music will be celebrated by The Prep students and Broadway stars at a concert containing songs from CONCRETE JUNGLE, MARY AND MAX THE MUSICAL and music from RAIN AND ZOE SAVE THE WORLD. The event is at GreenRoom42 on Monday, November 8 at 7:00pm.

Abingdon Theatre Company has announced the finalists for their second annual “Virtual Festival of Short Plays”. The Dramatists Guild of America today announced the creation of its first ever Inclusion Rider. As part of its commitment to fostering a more equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist industry, the Guild has crafted this Inclusion Rider as a resource to support all dramatists and producers who have a desire to exercise these principles in the hiring of personnel involved in their productions.

On the eve of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall was lined with lawn chairs and picnic blankets, and the surrounding lawns were packed with thousands of people eagerly awaiting a performance on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. These outdoor theatergoers were gathered to see a free one-night-only concert production of the Tony-winning musical Come From Away, a work that invites us to process unthinkable tragedy through storytelling and song.

Abingdon Theatre Company continues to be committed to creating opportunities for all voices to be heard. With this in mind, the company has announced their Festival of Short Plays. A one-week virtual festival shedding light on stories by people of color. Three new short pieces will be selected which were created and to be performed and directed by people of color.

Each of the finalists were given the prompt  'Borders' for their submission. Each entry is evaluated for its Character Development, Ear for Authentic Speech, Camouflage of Exposition, Thrilling Story, Dramatic Structure, and Clever Use of Festival Theme. 

NSKIP will present StatueFest On Stage, live performances of theatrical monologues celebrating statue-worthy New York women at PRTTheatre (Puerto Rican Traveling Theater), 304 W. 47th St. at Eighth Ave. in Manhattan in two separate programs on September 30 and October 1, both at 7 pm.
