Christos Rafalides And The Manhattan Vibes Perform At WCT's Jazz Masters Series

On Saturday, February 16, the Jazz Masters Series of Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will feature internationally known vibraphonist Christos Rafalides and his group, the Manhattan Vibes. Rafalides has appeared at such venues as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and has been featured with numerous notable artists including Wynton Marsalis and Chaka Khan. In 2002, a Manhattan Vibes CD was named one of the year's top ten jazz recordings by Jazz Times.

On December 7th the multi-Grammy Award winning pianist, composer, arranger, and bandleader Eddie Palmieri will release Mi Luz Mayor, his second salsa album of the year on his newly launched imprint Uprising Music (through Ropeadope). Today, Palmieri releases the album's third single 'Mi Congo,' featuring Carlos Santana. Guitar World called the the collaboration 'lively, intricately beautiful,' while NPR's Felix Contreras said the song will 'change the perception of what you think an [81] year old should sound like. This is proof positive that we only get better with age.'

Sessions will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. each day. Illuminated in vivid color against the clear night sky, the NJPAC campus became an Ozian destination for more than 900 guests, many of whom lingered outdoors to take in the scene on Chambers Plaza. The spaciousness of Prudential Lobby was enhanced by a dual-level tent that accommodated a dance floor, presided over by DJ Kiss, as well as a lounge for kicking back, networking or people-watching.
