Scripps Ranch Theatre, located on the campus of Alliant International University, presents their 6th Annual Out on a Limb - New Plays from America's Finest City. Scripps Ranch Theatre is a leader in the Southern California Arts Community in developing and producing new plays. The pieces are all new, world-premiere plays written by area playwrights, and have a common theme of having something to do with San Diego. This year, the festival will run for two weekends; July 14-16 & July 21-23, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Sundays at 2pm. (more...)

New York Television Festival Announces Over 30 Deals, 2014 Winners!

Independent artists, industry executives and TV fans celebrated closing night of the 10th annual New York Television Festival this evening at the SVA Theatre in Manhattan, with a series of special events. House of Cards showrunner Beau Willimon kicked things off with the third and final creative keynote of the week, followed by a screening and talk-back of FOX comedy series MULANEY and the Festival's annual awards ceremony. There, NYTVF (www.nytvf.com) announced the winners of its Independent Pilot Competition (IPC) in 12 categories, including 'Best of the Fest' and NYTVF Critics Award honors to 'Dispatch' and 'Witnesses' respectively, as well as recipients of 20 development deals from its network, studio and digital partners. Founded in 1980, the local Ronald McDonald House provides a 'home away from home' to families with children being treated at area hospitals for serious, often life-threatening conditions. Nearly 20,000 guests a year receive housing, meals and other crucial care and services while dealing with health crises. (more...)

For the first time in its history the Fulton Theatre will make it rain on stage, in a dazzling stage effect that will bring the beloved MGM film Singin' in the Rain to life in downtown Lancaster. The Fulton's artistic director Marc Robin directs and choreographs. 'I have directed this show six times before but I have never had the opportunity to produce it exactly as I wanted, for various reasons. I am so excited because for the first time I have the ability to spread the rain effect over the entire stage, not to mention having the absolute best cast a director could ask for.' (more...)
