Director-writer Justin Meyer has made magic with his energetic and talented co-horts, both on- and off-stage, launching what should become a holiday tradition.

Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, Christmas Carol Goes Wrong sees the return of Mischief’s beloved Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, which was first seen by audiences in The Play That Goes Wrong over ten years ago. The show actually picks up where the last “Goes Wrong” show, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, left off, with the Cornley crew putting on a production of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage “A Sherlock Carol,” a family-friendly holiday production based on two classic tales, “The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle,” a classic Sherlock Holmes story. Check out photos of the production.

If I had a nickel for every time that I’ve reviewed the same show, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but I’m surprised that it took so long in my reviewing history to happen. It shouldn’t be a surprise, however, that in both cases, they are to review Christmas productions. For the first time since 2021, I’ve been treated with attending TheatreWorks New Milford’s production of Matt Austin’s, What the Dickens. Can we officially call this a Christmas Classic?

South Coast Repertory will commission award-winning playwright Amy Freed to write a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, with Artistic Director David Ivers set to direct.

What did our critic think of A CHRISTMAS CAROL: A GHOST STORY OF CHRISTMAS at Olney Theatre? Olney Theatre continues its lovely tradition of its annual rendering of Paul Morella’s one-person adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol: A Ghost Story of Christmas.” Now in its 16th year, this rendition of the classic continues to delight audiences. For the second year, DC area veteran actor Michael Russotto masterfully performs all of the almost-fifty characters in the story. This production not only features a fine adaptation of the novella and a stellar performance by Mr. Russotto but also top-notch productions values. The show is full of humor, pathos, charm and fun.

Gateway Playhouse has added an extra Sunday matinee performance to the successful run of their holiday show “Scrooge the Musical”. “Scrooge the Musical” brings the timeless holiday tale to life with warmth, humor and music by Leslie Bricusse.
