The New York Times reports today that the Tony Award statuette has grown up for 2010. Where the statue used to be 3 1/4 inches tall, weighing in at a 1 1/2 pounds, this year's prize is larger by almost double: standing 5 inches high and weighing 3 1/2 pounds.

Beginning August 13, Artists Repertory Theatre and Sydney Theatre Company will bring a world-class production of EuGene O'Neill's gut-wrenching autobiographical play Long Day's Journey Into Night to Portland. So close to his own life, Long Day's Journey Into Night is a story O'Neill did not want shared until 25 years after his death.

The Tony Awards today announced their line-up of performances for the 64th Annual Tony Awards Telecast on Sunday, June 13th. Building on the success of the program's first two years, Focus Features will accept entries for a third year of its Africa First Program beginning Monday, May 17th and continuing through Monday, August 3rd. Focus CEO James Schamus made the announcement today.

Variety reports today that Cate Blanchett's latest film, Robin Hood, directed by Ridley Scott and co-starring Russell Crowe, will be the opening film at the 2010, 63rd Annual Cannes Film Festival on May 12. The announcement does not come as a surprise to most, as the action-drama had been a top contender for the coveted placement for some time. The film will not play in competition at the festival, though it will mark its world premiere.

Long Day's Journey Into Night is bound to be the 'hot ticket' in the Pacific Northwest this year. This world-class co-production between Portland's Artists Repertory Theatre and Australia's Sydney Theatre Company (STC) stars Oregonians William Hurt and Todd Van Voris, as well as three Australian actors including the legendary Australian actress Robyn Nevin, Luke Mullins and Emily Russell
