Let Your Heart Soar With Nostalgia as You Return to the Isle of Berk
On the tails of How to Train Your Dragon in Concert’s roaring 2025 Calgary success, How to Train Your Dragon 2 in Concert soars into Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium September 4 & 5 for two special screenings of the film scored by a full live orchestra.
Presented by Glatz Loft Concerts, How to Train Your Dragon 2 in Concert brings composer John Powell’s magical score to life. A full orchestra will play the iconic score live in concert, note for note, in sync with a special version of the film as prepared by the studio: with the score stripped from the original mix, but all dialogue and sound effects left intact.
In 2025 and 2026, How to Train Your Dragon in Concert saw a flurry of sold-out shows and added performance dates due to unprecedented demand in four major Canadian cities. Now, the 2014 animated DreamWorks sequel is returning to these cities due to audience demand. Based on the book series by Cressida Cowell, the film features Canadian actor Jay Baruchel voicing the main role of Hiccup alongside Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill and Cate Blanchett.
This animated film concert is a sure-fire hit with nostalgic Gen Zs, who fell in love with the franchise as children. The popularity of the franchise is now spreading to first-wave fans in Gen Alpha, as well as their Millennial parents, following the 2025 release of the live action How to Train Your Dragon film.
Winner of the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film, How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a captivating story that combines fire-breathing action, stirring emotion and epic adventure. In this beloved sequel, Hiccup, a young Viking, and his soulmate dragon, Toothless, find themselves in a battle to save the future of humans and dragons alike.
Film concerts have surged in popularity over the last 15 years, as movie and music fans have flocked to experience elevated versions of their favourite films. Ranging from cinema classics to nostalgic favourites, these concerts bring the power of the score to the forefront and, for many, act as an accessible introduction to orchestral concerts.
