InterSchool Orchestras of New York and the Mingus Dynasty are collaborating to present MINGUS. This concert features never-before-heard full orchestra arrangements of popular Mingus tunes arranged by Earl McIntyre. It will also feature solo performances by the Mingus Dynasty.

Jazzmobile Inc. and Harlem Jazz Enterprises have entered into a new partnership to present live music at the iconic Minton's Playhouse jazz club, 206 West 118th Street, in Harlem. This open-ended residency will begin on Independence Day with pianist Nat Adderley, Jr. and will continue every Thursday evening with a world-class jazz band. The Summer lineup will be announced at the opening celebration on July 4.

Joan Jaffe revisits the classic ladies of jazz in her show, Little Girl Blue, an intimate show of new and classic songs, with a guest appearance by Charles Baran, and actor/comedian, Kuni Mikamion piano. Jaffe explores the classic songs and standards of the great female artists June Christy, Carmen McRae, Cleo Laine and Rosemary Clooney, and the music of composers ranging from Rogers and Hart to Leonard Bernstein.
The living legends of jazz, veteran musicians who have achieved greatness in performing jazz are now being honored at The Nash with the creation of The Jazz Beacon Award. Conceived by Lewis Nash as a way to recognize the important role and contributions these musicians have given to the world of jazz, The Nash inducted its first honoree, bassist Ron Carter, during his March 23rd appearance at the downtown Phoenix jazz club.

By the age of nine she began borrowing from her brother's collection of vintage blues, at 10 she began studying piano, and by 12 was a huge fan of Carmen McRae, Billie Holiday, Esther Phillips and Miriam Makeba. Her eclectic and wide ranging musical tastes have continued to encompass jazz, modern pop and rock as well as classical and world music.
