Birdland will kick-off their exciting month of programming with the following acts:

The Broadway at Birdland concert series welcomes the return of award winning songwriter Scott Alan on Monday, September 24 at 7:30pm for a celebration of his newest album "Lifeline."

Musical theatre and pop songwriter Joey Contreras is returning to Rockwood Music Hall's Stage 2 on Monday, June 11 for a 9pm concert. Joining him will be an exciting lineup including Nic Rouleau (The Book of Mormon), DeLaney Westfall (Kinky Boots), Natalie Weiss (Everyday Rapture), JJ Niemann (The Book of Mormon), Olivia Puckett (Dear Evan Hansen), Brad Greer (Jerry Springer the Opera), Mia Gerachis, Rob Morean, Stevi Incremona, Morgan Reilly and Spencer Kiely with Brian Russell Carey (Red Roses, Green Gold) and Jacob Yates. 

Broadway Sessions recently celebrated the music of award winning composing team Thomson and Desmon. Jeffrey Thomson and Jeremy Desmon are responsible for musicals One Hit Wonder, The Oliver Experiment, Pump Up the Volume and the highly anticipated Nancy Drew. Wonderful writers tend to have some wonderful friends who tend to want to get their hands on their music! And that's a very good thing.

Due to demand, The New Group has announced a three-week extension for Jerry Springer - The Opera, with Matt McGrath appearing as Jerry Springer beginning March 13.  Terrence Mann, currently appearing in the role of Jerry Springer, plays his final performance March 11 due to an existing commitment beyond that date.

The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano.  This Thursday night, March 1st,  Broadway Sessions welcomes and all star cast to sing the music of award winning musical theatre composers Thomson and Desmon. 

Jerry Springer: The Opera opened on Thursday, February 22 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street). BroadwayWorld attended the event adn you can check out photo coverage below!

The Green Room 42 presents BROADWAY'S GUILTY PLEASURES 2: DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH , February 25th at 9:30PM ; a celebration of the irresistible musicals that we secretly adore.

The New Group has announced full casting for the Off-Broadway premiere Jerry Springer The Opera with Jennifer Allen, Florrie Bagel, Brandon Contreras, Sean Patrick Doyle, Bradley Greer, Luke Grooms, Nathaniel Hackmann, Billy Hepfinger, Justin Keyes, Beth Kirkpatrick, Elizabeth Loyacano, Tiffany Mann, Jill Paice, Kim Steele and Nichole Turner joining, as previously announced, Terrence Mann and Will Swenson.

Touring vocal group The Broadway Boys announce the launch of a month long Kickstarter campaign to fund their new album, "A New Broadway."  The company is aiming to raise $30,000 by August 13th and have recorded their first single, "Magic to Do," as a preview of the album's sound. 

Robbie Florian's farce, The Cadaver Synod: A Pope Musical will debut at this year's New York Musical Festival, playing from July 17 - 23 at The Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street). The Cadaver Synod is directed by Ryan Emmons with musical direction by Dan Garmon and choreography by Gina Duci. Tickets are $27.75 and can be purchased by visiting NYMF.org.

Taking place at 9:30pm on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at New York's famed The Cutting Room, a group of Broadway performers and musical theatre artists will join forces to raise money for those affected by the attack at the Ariana Grande concert on May 21 in Manchester, England. Entitled 'Total Request Live: Break Free (a night for Manchester)' this special event will feature the work of Ariana Grande, as rearranged by the creative team and artists, and will benefit the We Love Manchester United Fund.

Broadway's Future Songbook Series - presented by Arts and Artists of Tomorrow - concludes its twenty-sixth season on Monday, May 22nd in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center located at 111 Amsterdam Avenue and 65th Street. 

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was delighted to host songwriter Michael Mott, who made his Birdland debut with a one night only concert of his original music, starring Meg Doherty, Dan DeLuca, Jackie Burns, Loren Allred, Seran Bilgi, Alan H. Critically acclaimed songwriter Michael Mott will be making his Birdland debut for a one night only concert of his original music on Monday, February 27 at 7 p.m.

The new musical Back Home Again, featuring songs by John Denver with book by Stewart F. Lane will have a limited run at The Lesher Center For The Arts from January 11-21.

Just last night, Sarah Ruhl was honored with the 2016 Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award  at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. The evening featured performances of Ruhl's work by Blair Brown, Kathleen Chalfant, Maria Dizzia, Jessica Hecht, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Polly Noonan and Joseph J. Parks. On Octobert 15th, composer/lyricist Michael Mott returns to Feinstein's/54 Below for a concert of his original pop music.
