If you're like this reviewer, you're a sucker for stories about young people loudly and aggressively voicing their rebellions through art. Three years ago, screenwriter/director John Carney's indie hit 'Sing Street' told of a beaten-down 1980s Dublin teenage lad who forms a rock band initially to impress a girl, but then finds it as an outlet to write and perform songs expressing his range towards the adults who are supposed to be his role models. (Oh yeah, and he writes a song to try and make the girl like him, too.)

Something magical is flying into the Straz Center. Disney's Aladdin is landing its magic carpet at Morsani Hall on December 19, 2019 a?' January 5, 2020. Based on the on the Academy Award-winning 1992 animated film, Aladdin combines adventure, comedy and romance, featuring a full score, with familiar songs and more written specifically for the stage adaption.
Aladdin ensemble actress Carissa Fiorillo is especially excited to be returning to Tampa. Aladdin at the Straz means Christmas with the family that she hasn't seen since the beginning of the year.

(never known by name) meeting each other with their heavy past in a bar, connecting through the power of music. a?oeGuya?? a musician/vacuum repairman with his broken heart from an ex who moved to New York and a?oeGirla?? with her absent husband and responsibility to take care of her child, meet and connect over Girl's tenacity to make Guy's music career blossom. In the effort to find him that love he once had, their own connection forms and leaves the audience wanting more for both of them.
