The producers of the smash hit musical Dirty Dancing have just announced new casting for the phenomenally successful First Ever National Tour. The new company will have their first performance at Birmingham Hippodrome on Wednesday 4 July (American Independence Day) and will run until Saturday 25 August. Since the UK tour opened in Bristol on 1 September 2011, demand for tickets has been sensational, smashing box office records across the country and playing to packed houses.

Porgy and Bess is an opera which, in the past, has predominantly been set in the 'Deep South', or more specifically South Carolina; highlighting African-American life in the 1920's. Cape Town Opera (CTO), on the other hand, have chosen a different approach and decided that strong parallels could be drawn between the original concept and South African urban life in the 1970's.

Wonderful Town is the Tony Award winning musical with a big heart. With music by the wonderful Leonard Bernstein, this production ticks almost every box for a sure fire hit even before entering the theatre. Having taken a variety of different forms over the last decade, Wonderful Town started out as a group of short stories, followed by a book, then a play and afterwards probably its most recognised form in the 1953 film starring Edith Adams and Rosalind Russell - all before it became a successful musical production.

Leicester Curve's acclaimed production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's smash-hit musical, THE KING AND I comes to Birmingham Hippodrome from today 1 May through Sat 5 May 2012. Ramon Tikaram will play the role of 'The King' and Josefina Gabrielle will play the role of 'Anna' alongside two teams of 32 local children.
