The Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC) and Artistic Director/Founder Francisco J. Nuñez celebrate the chorus' 30th anniversary in its 2018 Annual Benefit Concert, to be held at Jazz at Lincoln Center on Monday, March 5, at 7:00 p.m. This year's musical guests are Tony Award-winning, Broadway songwriting duo Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, whose works for the stage include Anastasia and Once On This Island; singer and actress Jenn Colella, currently starring in Broadway's Come From Away; singer/actor Jordan Donica, whose roles include Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the national tour of Hamilton; and classical baritone Lester Lynch, who has performed at Teatro alla Scala, Covent Garden, and with the San Francisco Opera, among other companies.

The Toronto Production of Come From Away opened February 13th at the Royal Alexandra Theatre. Come From Away tells the heartwarming story of the thousands of travelers who were forced to land in Gander, Newfoundland during 9/11, and the Newfoundlanders who opened their hearts and homes to them.

On Tuesday, December 5th, Broadway Backstory podcast released their episode about the making of COME FROM AWAY. COME FROM AWAY is the hit 2017 musical by Irene Sankoff and David Hine that tells the true story of what happened when 7,000 stranger were stranded in Gander, New Foundland in the wake of the September 11, 2011 attacks. Broadway Backstory, a documentary-style podcast that finds out how a show develops from an idea to a full production, charts the show's journey from a college workshop to it's out of town tryouts, to a concert event in Gander, and ultimately to Broadway.

Last night at Broadway's COME FROM AWAY, American Airlines reunited the six American Airlines, TWA and US Airways crews who were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland on 9/11 and experienced the true stories brought to life in the musical, including Captain Beverley Bass (the first female Captain at American, who is depicted in the show), pilots and crews of these flights and AA's CEO & Chairman Doug Parker as well as the AA Vice Presidents of Flight Service and Flight. Pioneering airline pilot Beverley Bass was captain of one of the 39 planes redirected to a small Canadian town in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, a story dramatized in the Broadway hit COME FROM AWAY.

COME FROM AWAY opens tonight on Broadway, officially sharing the tale of a remarkable little town in Newfoundland with theatre goers.

Opening tonight on Broadway, Come From Away spotlights the town of Gander, Newfoundland, which became the temporary home of over 6,000 passengers whose planes were rerouted during the 9/11 attacks. In its dramatization of real-life figures such as Beverley Bass, a stranded pilot portrayed by Jenn Colella, and Claude Elliott, the Gander mayor brought to life by Joel Hatch, the musical provides a historical recount of the week following 9/11, heavily inspired by true stories of the compassion and camaraderie that came about in Gander.

Come From Away is not a musical about the September 11th terrorist attacks - if anything it is the exact opposite. Come From Away is a musical about all that is good in people - compassion, care, love, acceptance, equality, and treating others with kindness. Truly, it is a musical written for now.
