The Porters of Hellsgate Theatre Company has announced their return to production after the last two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. At a fundraiser event held on May 28 in Los Angeles, a number of important announcements were made regarding the company’s future.

The Drama Book Shop, a 105-year-old independent bookstore in New York City owned by Thomas Kail, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jeffrey Seller and James L. Nederlander, will celebrate its first anniversary since reopening its doors at 266 West 39th Street on Friday, June 10, 2022.

The Drama Book Shop has announced the launch of an e-commerce site, providing worldwide access to thousands of theatrical titles. The online store features all the titles available in the New York shop and will offer staff recommendations, new plays, monthly selects, indie titles, top picks for kids and more. 

Mayor Bill de Blasio stopped by the Drama Book Shop to honor the bookstore and declare October 26, 2021 “Drama Book Shop Day.”  Co-owner Lin-Manuel Miranda was at the store to receive the proclamation from the Mayor, speak on the importance of getting vaccinated and encourage the community to shop locally to support small businesses.

The cast of Head Over Heels will celebrate the release of their Original Broadway Cast Recording, now available digitally and in physical formats via Sony Masterworks Broadway on November 9, with an in-store performance and album signing event at the Drama Book Shop

During last night's Season Release Bash at Filament Theater, Artistic Director and Co-Founder Michael Patrick Thornton proudly announced The Gift Theatre's 2019 Season will include: a revival of John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning drama DOUBT: A PARABLE directed by Ensemble Member John Gawlik and featuring Ensemble Members Jennifer Glasse, Maryann Thebus and Michael Patrick Thornton (February 27 - March 31) and the Chicago premiere of Hansol Jung's WOLF PLAY, directed by guest artist Jess McLeod (October 18 - November 24). The Gift's 17th season will also include a soon-to-be-announced third production (July 12 - August 18).

American Bard Theater Company presents the New York City premiere of You Wouldn't Expect, a play written by Marilynn Barner Anselmi examining the staggering truths about the coercive influence of the government-sponsored eugenics program and its direct focus on poverty and race. Cezar Williams directs a cast of eight, including Cherie Danielle, Adiagha Faizah, Carl Fisk, Erin Gilbreth*, Ross G. Hewitt, Malikha Mallette, Okema T Moore*, and Atiya Yanique Taylor. Fifteen performances will be staged at The Chain Theater, 312 West 36th Street in New York City, from September 19-October 7, 2018.

David Sisco and Laura Josepher, owners of ContemporaryMusicalTheatre.com, will present a free masterclass, followed by signing copies of their book, "Mastering College Musical Theatre Auditions: Sound Advice for Students, Teachers, and Parents" at Drama Book Shop's Arthur Seelen Theatre (250 W. 40th Street) on Saturday, September 22 from 2-4 PM.

The Gift Theatre is pleased to launch its 17th season with the world premiere of Stacy Osei-Kuffour's haunting and often-humorous drama HANG MAN, directed by guest artist Jess McLeod, playing March 2 - April 29, 2018 at 4802 N.
