The Company Theatre, Rochester's newest performing arts collaborative, announces their inaugural 2022-2023 season.

Anton Chekov, along with Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg, were three late nineteenth and early twentieth century European playwrights who were the seminal figures in the birth of theatrical modernism. They turned their backs on the escapist romantic stories and took on real issues, and presented real people with real problems.

Chekhov's 1886 short play tells the story of Ivan as we meet him at a local Town Hall. Instructed by his wife to give a lecture on the harmful effects of tobacco it comes apparent that she has an ulterior motive and Ivan's lecture quickly becomes a very funny, yet painful, revelation about his life and relationships, laying out his lost dreams.

The Devil Pours It Steady is the latest offering by local playwright, Tyler Rossi. The show is available for streaming now through July 23rd and is produced by the Orpheus Theater. Rossi's resume includes many compelling dramatic pieces including Verboten and End of the Line. The current work falls a little short.

Mallory Catlett’s OBIE award winning This Was The End will return to Mabou Mines this time as an installation where the audience becomes the actor.  At once an artifact and an experience, Archive: this was the end is the afterlife of a performance as an interactive sculpture.
