Theater Resources Unlimited will present Meet the Coaches, during which actors can meet more than 10 monologue and music coaches, plus accompanists, who will share their methods and then meet individuals in breakout rooms.

Nearly 40 years in, the band is still going strong with vocalist Dibbs Preston, guitarists Danny B. Harvey and Barry Ryan, and bassist Smutty Smiff, and they’re still bringing their love of early rock n’ roll to the masses, having released a killer cover of Eddie Cochran’s “Nervous Breakdown” late last year in anticipation of their new album.

The national tour of the 2019 Drama Desk Award winner for Outstanding Musical “The Prom” will play at Center Theatre Group / Ahmanson Theatre from August 9 through September 11, 2022 and will open August 10, 2022.

Coachella Valley Repertory Theater (CVRep) is proud to announce that iconic and legendary photographer Michael Childers will be honored at the Luminary Luncheon, an exclusive entertainment and fundraising experience, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 12:00 N with a special sponsor reception at 11:15 AM at the beautiful Westin Mission Hills, Rancho Mirage. The 7th annual Hollywood Beauty Awards (HBAs), founded by CEO Michele Elyzabeth, took place on Saturday, March 19 at the Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles. The HBAs honor the architects of beauty, recognizing talent in hair, makeup, photography and styling for film, TV, music, the red carpet and editorial.

The movie stars Ginna Claire Mason (Wicked), Tony Award-nominated Derek Klena (Jagged Little Pill), Ann-Margret (Carnal Knowledge), and Eve Plumb (“The Brady Bunch”). The film was shot on location both in New York and at Radio City Music Hall. The Rockets will be featured throughout the film in various performance numbers and speaking roles.

With her new show about the roles she should have played, Mary Lahti creates a touchingly hilarious (or hilariously touching) story of the pitfalls of being an actor.

The real star of the evening was the musical arrangements that Huffman and McSweeney created themselves. They reimagined some wonderful classics by artists as diverse as Ann Margaret, Nat King Cole, Jimi Hendrix, The Pointer Sisters, Cole Porter, Joni Mitchell, and Peggy Lee, utilizing only bass and voice with a little sprinkling of piano, violin, and Ms. Huffman’s “Low G” ukulele. The sparseness of the ensemble was a huge asset, focusing attention on the lyrics and the performances themselves. And the performances were lovely. Ms. Huffman is a gifted and versatile actress and Ms. McSweeney is a truly soulful jazzwoman.

Cinelounge Theatres and Cleopatra Records present a special screening of the 1963 fan-favorite Bye Bye Birdie, followed by an in-person Q&A with its star Ann-Margret February 14, 2022, at The Montalban. Those in attendance will also be treated to a sneak preview of a few songs from Ann-Margret’s upcoming release from Cleopatra Records, Born to Be Wild. I had a chance to chat with and re-interview (after twenty years) Ann-Margret on things Birdie, her USO stints, her latest CD, and, most important of all, how she defines sexy.
