Violinist Miranda Cuckson makes her series debut at PREFORMANCES WITH ALLISON CHARNEY's matinee concert - CHAMBER MUSIC CELEBRATION - this Thursday, January 30th @2pm at New York City's acoustical gem, Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center. Cuckson will play Dave Soldier's 'Hammer and Anvil' for solo violin. Cellist Sophie Shao joins Cuckson for Iannis Xenakis' 'Dhipli Zyia' and violist Daniel Panner will round out the group for Zoltán Kodaly's 'Intermezzo for String Trio' and the finale of Beethoven's 'String Trio, op. 3'.

The title DYNAMIC DUOS was certainly apt for yesterday's sensational PREFORMANCES with Allison Charney at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center.  Beethoven's history-making Cello Sonata, no. 3 has never sounded better than it did played by the duo of cellist Peter Seidenberg and pianist Hui-Mei Lin who infused this duet with great beauty and authenticity.

Superstar violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins returns to PREFORMANCES with Allison Charney to play Florence Price's masterful Violin Concerto, no. 2 this Thursday, October 24th at 7pm at Merkin Hall. Ms. Hall-Tompkins makes this appearance in the midst of her 'The Fiddler Expanding Tradition' tour and her work on the composite song cycle, 'Forgotten Voices', an original commission from Music Kitchen: Food for the Soul, which premieres at Carnegie Hall in the spring.

The new classical series Only at Merkin with Terrance McKnight, featuring, among others, the world-renowned pianists Andre Watts and Ursula Oppens; the world premiere of a piano quintet by acclaimed new music composer Laura Kaminsky; and presentations by Academy and Grammy Awards winner Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen); Emmy, Tony, Grammy and Academy Awards winner Bobby Lopez (Frozen); Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winners Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal); and 10-time Tony winner Maury Yeston (Titanic, Nine) are among the numerous highlights of the Kaufman Music Center's diverse 2018-19 season at Merkin Hall.
