Due to popular demand, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will extend the riotous comedy The 39 Steps, adding three additional performancesa?"2pm and 8pm Saturday, September 21, and 2pm Sunday, September 22.

Center Theatre Group invites high school students from the greater Los Angeles area to apply for the 2019 a?" 2020 Student Ambassador Program, a free leadership development program for students who are curious about the arts and want to build leadership and teamwork skills. 

Lindsay Allbaugh has been named Associate Artistic Director and Neel Keller has been named Associate Artistic Director/Literary Director of Center Theatre Group, announced Artistic Director Michael Ritchie. Both Allbaugh and Keller will continue working closely with Ritchie and Associate Artistic Director Kelley Kirkpatrick to oversee all artistic responsibilities of the nonprofit theatre company, including productions across the Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City.

Following its Tony-nominated hit Broadway run seen by tens of thousands, Tony Award winner John Leguizamo's one-man play a?oeLatin History for Moronsa?? will be presented by Center Theatre Group at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles from September 5 through October 20, 2019. Opening is set for Sunday, September 8. 

Center Theatre Group invites schools and community organizations serving youth from the greater Los Angeles area to apply for the 2019 a?" 2020 Student Matinee Program, a comprehensive arts education experience which brings thousands of students and educators to the theatre each season. 

In 2017, Center Theatre Group was awarded a grant from Disney to bring the Disney Musicals in Schools program to the Los Angeles area. The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theatre programs in under-resourced elementary schools. Center Theatre Group will select four area public elementary schools to participate in this year's program. Previous recipients have included Breed Street Elementary (LAUSD), Cantara Street School (LAUSD), Harrison Elementary (LAUSD), Hope Street Elementary (LAUSD), Humphreys Avenue Elementary (LAUSD), La Ballona Elementary (Culver City Unified School District), Ritter Elementary (LAUSD), Saturn Street Elementary (LAUSD), Tulsa Street Elementary (LAUSD) and Wild Rose School of Creative Arts (Monrovia Unified School District). 

Center Theatre Group will continue its FreePlay program for the 2019-2020 season. Anyone who is 25 years old or younger will be able to reserve free tickets to the first preview of all Center Theatre Group productions at the Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre as well as select shows at the Ahmanson Theatre. Reservations are free if made in-person at the box office. There will be a $5 per ticket handling fee to reserve online at CTGLA.org/FreePlay or over the phone by calling (213) 628-2772.

Cast members from the Broadway company will lead the national tour of 2017 Broadway revival of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND!

a?oeHadestown,a?? the winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best New Musical announced today on ABC's a?oeGood Morning Americaa?? that the show will launch a National Tour beginning in the Fall of 2020.

Images have been released of the cast of CURTAINS, the Kander & Ebb musical starring Jason Manford as Detective Frank Cioffi at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from 31 March – 4 April 2020.

As BroadwayWorld first reported last week, Sting's acclaimed musical, THE LAST SHIP, starring and featuring original music and lyrics by multiple Grammy Award-winner Sting, will add three new cities as part of its international tour. After premiering in Los Angeles at Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre and then playing at SHN's Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco, THE LAST SHIP will have engagements in Washington D.C. at the National Theatre; St. Paul, MN at the Ordway and Detroit, MI at the Detroit Opera House. Sting will star as shipyard foreman, 'Jackie White,' and will perform the role at every performance. Additional cities and casting be announced at a later date.
