Lindsay Allbaugh has been named Associate Artistic Director and Neel Keller has been named Associate Artistic Director/Literary Director of Center Theatre Group, announced Artistic Director Michael Ritchie. Both Allbaugh and Keller will continue working closely with Ritchie and Associate Artistic Director Kelley Kirkpatrick to oversee all artistic responsibilities of the nonprofit theatre company, including productions across the Ahmanson Theatre and Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City.

Center Theatre Group Applications Now Available For Disney Musicals In Schools Program

In 2017, Center Theatre Group was awarded a grant from Disney to bring the Disney Musicals in Schools program to the Los Angeles area. The program is an initiative developed by Disney Theatrical Productions to create sustainable theatre programs in under-resourced elementary schools. Center Theatre Group will select four area public elementary schools to participate in this year's program. Previous recipients have included Breed Street Elementary (LAUSD), Cantara Street School (LAUSD), Harrison Elementary (LAUSD), Hope Street Elementary (LAUSD), Humphreys Avenue Elementary (LAUSD), La Ballona Elementary (Culver City Unified School District), Ritter Elementary (LAUSD), Saturn Street Elementary (LAUSD), Tulsa Street Elementary (LAUSD) and Wild Rose School of Creative Arts (Monrovia Unified School District). 

Center Theatre Group Announces FreePlay Performances For 2019-2020 Season

Center Theatre Group will continue its FreePlay program for the 2019-2020 season. Anyone who is 25 years old or younger will be able to reserve free tickets to the first preview of all Center Theatre Group productions at the Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre as well as select shows at the Ahmanson Theatre. Reservations are free if made in-person at the box office. There will be a $5 per ticket handling fee to reserve online at CTGLA.org/FreePlay or over the phone by calling (213) 628-2772.

As BroadwayWorld first reported last week, Sting's acclaimed musical, THE LAST SHIP, starring and featuring original music and lyrics by multiple Grammy Award-winner Sting, will add three new cities as part of its international tour. After premiering in Los Angeles at Center Theatre Group's Ahmanson Theatre and then playing at SHN's Golden Gate Theatre in San Francisco, THE LAST SHIP will have engagements in Washington D.C. at the National Theatre; St. Paul, MN at the Ordway and Detroit, MI at the Detroit Opera House. Sting will star as shipyard foreman, 'Jackie White,' and will perform the role at every performance. Additional cities and casting be announced at a later date. While we await more details, check out some clips of Sting performing numbers from the show!
