Following the great success of its recent B-Movie-themed fundraiser this past February, the award-winning SkyPilot Theatre Company announces its selection for its acclaimed Runway staged reading series: Figments, performing this Thursday, March 15 at 8pm at River Rock Lounge, 12825 Ventura Blvd., Studio City. BoxFest Detroit, an annual theatre festival that showcases and creates opportunities for women directors, has announced the schedule for its 2017 festival. BoxFest Detroit 2017 runs Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons and evenings, August 18 - 26, at Planet Ant Theatre. Planet Ant Theatre is located at 2357 Caniff, Hamtramck, MI, 48212. Admission is payable by cash only at the door with day passes for $10. A limited number of festival passes are on sale for $30, and may be purchased at the door and reserved online. BWW Review: Fantastic.Z's Short Play Series FAMILY Modern and Sweet

Keeping it brief, since the show only runs through this Saturday, LGBTQ theater group Fantastic.Z has a series of short plays currently performing at The Eclectic Theater called 'Family'. The six-play series has a family motif, each story showcasing modern examples of what it means to be a unit in the modern era. In a more deductive sense, this new works micro-festival highlights specifically pain within the family unit. Half of the shows work through that pain less successfully with staged therapy (moping, finger-pointing, and yelling), and the other half of the show work through that pain more successfully with comedy.
