Thomas J. Misuraca

BIO

Over 150 of Tom Misuraca's short plays have been produced and stage read globally, often winning audience favorite awards. Twelve of his full-lengths have been produced in California, Las Vegas, Texas, Michigan and New York City. His most produced play, GEEKS! THE MUSICAL, went on to be produced Off Broadway in 2019. In 2014, Tom won two writing awards: The Pickering and the Las Vegas Little Theatre New Works Award. He won the LVLT New Works Award again in 2019 and 2022. His short plays have recently won Carlow Little Theatre Society's Playwriting Festival in Ireland, Storefront Theatre's Festival of Ten Minute Plays and City Theatre of Independence Playwright Festival.

Keeping it brief, since the show only runs through this Saturday, LGBTQ theater group Fantastic.Z has a series of short plays currently performing at The Eclectic Theater called 'Family'. The six-play series has a family motif, each story showcasing modern examples of what it means to be a unit in the modern era. In a more deductive sense, this new works micro-festival highlights specifically pain within the family unit. Half of the shows work through that pain less successfully with staged therapy (moping, finger-pointing, and yelling), and the other half of the show work through that pain more successfully with comedy.
