Celia Mandela Rivera (she/her) - is a Black Latinx/Caribbean actress and director based in Los Angeles. In her work, she seeks to center and amplify Black & Brown voices and experiences. As an actor, she’s worked with Latino Theater Co., Coin & Ghost, IAMA Theatre Co., Antaeus Theatre, The Vagrancy, Rogue Artists Ensemble, La Jolla Playhouse, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (Regional). As a director, she’s worked with IAMA Theatre Co., Ammunition Theatre, Deaf West, Echo Theatre, Skylight Theatre, Boston Court, Coin & Ghost, Stella Adler’s Art of Acting Studio. Celia was also a National Finalist in the Acting Category at KCACTF. She is the Creator & Co-Founder of BLKLST and a Co-Author of the L.A. Anti-Racist Theatre Standards (LA ARTS). Both aim to hold Los Angeles-based theatre companies accountable to the larger BIPOC theatre community and aim to create a systemic shift that centers equitable practices and norms.
