Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET)'s FUN Company is proud to present Tomás and the Library Lady. From the best-selling children's book by Pat Mora, this musical adaptation by José Cruz Gonzales is sure to be a magical story for the whole family. Maryland Ensemble Theatre's 24th Mainstage season brings absurdist comedy to Downtown Frederick with Meteor Shower by Steve Martin. MET Producing Artistic Director Tad James directs this laugh-riot, leading an incredible cast of comedic actors. Running March 25 through April 24, audiences are sure to find themselves doubled over in laughter and wracked with absurdist unease throughout the course of this night at the theater.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre has revealed the first production in its 2020-2021 Season Of Surprises: Victory Is Within Our Grasp, a new original work to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the 19th Amendment. Featuring real monologues from the women's suffrage movement, compiled by Suzanne Beal, Julie Herber, and Gené Fouché and directed by Gené Fouché, Victory Is Within Our Grasp will be presented as a virtual 4-part series over the coming month.

In the struggling Rust Belt city of Reading, Pennsylvania, a bar becomes a battleground for race, class, family, and friendship. Cynthia, Tracey, and Jessie are a group of friends with a shared history working together on the factory line. But as economic upheaval and picket lines begin to strike their lives, they find themselves pitted against each other in a desperate fight to protect their livelihood and stay afloat.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's (MET) family theatre, The Fun Company will present El Viaje de Beatriz (Beatriz's Journey). When Beatriz slams into her room to escape a fight with her parents, she turns to Beatrizita, a doll made for her by her recently deceased abuela, for comfort. Beatrizita magically comes to life and sends Beatriz searching for her abuela in Dreamland with nothing but a blank map to guide her. A wondrous adventure begins and along the way she discovers regalitos (little gifts) that her abuela's kindness instilled within her.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre Announces 2018 METLab Festival Of New Work


Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to present METLab's Plays in Progress: A Festival of New Play Readings. Now in their fourth year of Plays in Progress, METLab once again offers regional playwrights an opportunity to present staged-readings of their selected work. Of the over 100 submissions reviewed, seven were chosen to be featured in this year's Festival of New Play Readings. The festival includes six nights of new play readings on the MET's mainstage, and one evening of four short plays at The Main Cup in Middletown as part of their "Coffee House Series".
