FREDERICK, MD (September 16, 2017) - Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) is proud to open it's FUN Company 2017-2018 season with The Dinosaur Play, written by Steve and Kathy Hotchner. presents an interactive pre-historic adventure. This audience participation pre-historic adventure transports its young audience millions of years before humans walked the earth.
Right in front of their eyes -- a dinosaur egg begins making tapping noises -- it's asking for help! It's the audience's job to help the egg figure out how to hatch. Throughout the performance Mammal engages the audience and enlists them to help her and her new Triceratops friend, Tank, get the egg to hatch and find a mother. When alliances are made with your favorite dinosaur, the silly Tyrannosaurus Rex doesn't stand a chance!"The kids are going to have so much with this play" says director Julie Herber, "The way the show includes the audience and encourages participation is just delightful. It's a great way to open the season as the young audiences travel back in time to the land of dinosaurs!" The cast features a real life family (and ensemble members) playing the dinosaur family and foe… Lia, Tim, and Ysa Seltzer!
Director, Julie Herber, also acts as sound designer and is supported by The Dinosaur Play crew including Matt Vance, scenic designer and costume designer Stephanie Hyder, along with Tabetha White on lighting design.
The cast includes Matt Harris as Tank, Tim Seltzer as Rex, Lia Seltzer as Brontosaurus, Ysa Seltzer as Egg, and Apple Reese as Mammal.
The Dinosaur Play opens on Saturday, September 16th and runs from September 16th - October 8th every Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. All tickets are $10 as part of our $20 MainStage/$10 Family Stage discount for our 20th year celebration. Tickets may be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744, online at marylandensemble.org or in person at the MET box office.
