BWW Review: Theater Three's production of Kander and Ebb's CURTAINS certainly is “A Tough Act to Follow”

Port Jefferson's Theater Three production of the musicial murder mystery romp Curtains is brilliant; it is a clever mash up of Columbo meets Kiss Me, Kate. Curtains is a wonderful show that reveals how a show's ensemble is not just its cast, but also its creative team. It emphasizes the importance of each and every talent involved with putting on a Broadway show. From the stage manager to the conductor; from the music team to the director. Theater Three's production successfully emits this theme.

MOLASSES IN JANUARY Begins Previews May 9

Spanning 1915 to 1919, set against the backdrop of Boston's Italian North End Immigrants, MOLASSES IN JANUARY is a charming historical fiction musical that tells the story of Anna, a single mother doing her best to raise her children in a world caught up in the turmoil of the first World War. As rumors grow about the potential construction of an enormous molasses tank that will be used to make liquor and gun powder for the war, so do the hopes for potential prosperity. But suddenly on an unusually warm January day, the tank bursts and two million gallons of molasses come crashing down around Anna and her family discovers that life can change in a moment. The music of MOLASSES IN JANUARY is performed in the traditional style of the Great American Song Book, similar to Fiddler on the Roof and Gypsy.

BWW Review: Andrew Lippa's WILD PARTY at SoLuna

The true talent of the cast takes center stage in SoLuna Studio's incarnation of Andrew Lippa's hit off-Broadway musical Wild Party. Their voices impressively and beautifully fill the Hauppauge theatre with Mr. Lippa's diverse score of pop/rock and jazz songs, among others.
