Molasses in January is a fun, new musical for all ages! Book, lyrics, and music by Francine Pellegrino, the recently workshopped show is being transferred to The Davenport Theatre Off Broadway. Director Whitney Stone will be returning to the production after directing it's two developmental workshops last fall at the Times Square Arts Center.

In efforts to aid the war and feed their families Italian immigrants in Boston's North End are commissioned to build a tank large enough to store 2,300,000 gallons of molasses in order to make liquor and gun powder. After her unfaithful husband Frank leaves, we zoom in on Anna, her children Rosemary and Vincent, and the people of the North End as they cope with the rising tension of the war, the hardships of Italian immigrants in the early 1900's, and a molasses tank explosion. Though surrounded with worries of anarchy, the people of the North End prove that family (and good food) holds tight through thick and thin and remember that "life can change in a moment."

Molasses in January is lead by Lianne Gennaco (The Golden Bride) who plays Anna and Corrado Alicata (I'll Say She Is: The Lost Marx Brother Musical) who plays her kind neighbor and would-have-been high school sweetheart, Joe. Anna's children Vincent and Rosemary are played by Kyle Wolf (Young Vincent), Jack Saleeby*, Sophia Eleni Kekllas* (Young Rosemary) and Anie Delgado (Much Ado About Nothing, The Playroom Theater).

Broadway Comedy Club); Maria- Nikki Casseri (Pillars of New York, St. Luke's Theatre); Young Tony- Robert Dakwar; Tony-Joe Marx; Young Ned- Matthew Quirk (Before Your Very Eyes, The Public Theatre); Older Ned- Daniel Artuso*; Mrs. Detoronto- Cali LaSpina*; Narrator- Rocky Paterra; Gloria- Grace Experience; Stage Manager- Marsh Shugart*; Music Director and Arrangements by- Michael Wittenburg; Piano Alternate- Naoko Aita.
