The Group Rep presents L.A. Now and Then, a brand new musical revue celebrating the City of Angels, its past and present, directed by Bruce Kimmel, with musical direction by Richard Allen, produced by Kathleen Delaney and Doug Haverty for the Group Rep.  

'Sit On Down', the soulful pandemic-era anthem by The Baylor Project has been nominated for a GRAMMY Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance. This is the third GRAMMY nomination for the renowned duo, and second nomination in this category. The 63rd annual GRAMMY Awards will take place on January 31, 2021.

Bright Eyes Productions is pleased to present Lanford Wilson's beautiful pulitzer prize winning play, TALLEY'S FOLLY at The Hudson MainStage Theatre. The show will open Feb. 16th, with previews Feb. 9th, 10th, & 11th.

Greenway Arts Alliance (GAA), under the direction of Co-Founders Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz, kick-off their 20th Anniversary celebration with a musical tribute brunch honoring Greenway community partners and Market Mash, a pop-up festival for Melrose Trading Post shoppers and visitors. Adam & Eve... and Steve has a bit of panto, a bit of the Edinburgh Fringe and a whole lot of great songs, but not quite the musical chops to reach its full potential.

Adam & Eve... and Steve is a brand new five star musical farce set in a newly created paradise, the Garden of Eden.

What a lovely surprise! I know that Bruce Kimmel is quite the clever gentleman and would not expect anything less than superlative work from his camp, but stepping down to the college campus level to review is not something that I particularly savor. These actors, with the exception of Robert Yacko and April Audia, are students, not yet professional performers as such. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed, not by the singing, but at least by the acting and overall drive and energy of the performers who delivered a mightily informative, nostalgic and fun show. It's called L.A. Now and Then, and it's a revue with songs and monologues that take a glance back at Los Angeles through the years and compare past with present cultural values. Kimmel as director maintains a great pace throughout: no lags; the show moves!

Write Act Repertory presents Pillars of New York, the story of 4 couples' struggles in and around the events surrounding the 9-11 tragedy. As the recovery happens, mentally and physically for the couples, therapist and author Jake Kelly evaluates his own personal loss and mortality as he explores others sides to their stories.

There are undoubtedly other productions worthy of merit in 2015 which I did not cover. This list is based only on what I saw and reviewed. (alphabetical listings; Equity, Equity-waiver & Non-Equity productions are mixed) (artists performing outside LA may be included in performance categories) No set, costume, or technical awards. I leave that to the bigger awards and to the expertise of those who really know those fields inside out.

The show with a cast of five and evenly directed by Ronnie Marmo turns out to be quite deliriously clever entertainment.
