On June 1, 2019 the State Theatre New Jersey Benefit Gala-featuring an intimate performance by Tony and Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater and pianist Bill Charlap-celebrated the State Theatre's opening almost 100 years ago with a Roaring Twenties theme. Proceeds from the Benefit Gala support State Theatre New Jersey's acclaimed artistic and educational programs.
United Palace To Host Poignant One Man Show From Leland Gantt RHAPSODY IN BLACK

On Tuesday, June 5th, the United Palace of Cultural Arts will host 'Rhapsody in Black,' the autobiographical one-man play written and performed by LeLand Gantt (best known for his roles in the Oscar-nominated Requiem for a Dream, Law and Order, and more). Developed at NYC's Actors Studio with Academy Award-winning actress Estelle Parsons as Directorial Consultant, 'Rhapsody in Black' is a searing portrait of Gantt's personal journey to understand and eventually transcend racism in America - following him from his underprivileged childhood in the ghettos of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, to teenage experiments with drugs, to his eventual rise in acting and a bittersweet success that often finds him as the only African-American in the room.
BWW Review: Village's THE 39 STEPS Packed with Laughs but Lacks Pace

If you've ever seen Patrick Barlow's brilliant stage adaptation of the Hitchcock film "The 39 Steps" you know what a fast paced thrill ride it is. When I saw the Broadway touring production I thought I was going to pass out from laughter. Which is why I was a little let down by the current production at Village Theatre that still had some great laughs but not always that lightning fast pace that the show demands.
