The A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a special gala concert featuring Fletcher alumni, current Fellows, the UNCSA Cantata Singers, and the UNCSA Symphony Orchestra in a program of selections from operatic favorites including âDon Giovanni,â âLa cenerentola,â âL'elisir d'amoreâ and âEugene Onegin.â

I Capuleti e i Montecchi, opera by V. Bellini, will be performed in April at Theatro Sao Pedro. With libretto by Felice Romani, the opera is not based on Shakespeare's famous text. Staged by Antonio Araujo and musical direction by Alessandro Sangiorgi, the cast includes singers Denise de Freitas (Romeo) and Carla Cottini (Giullietta).
