Priya Roy (she/her) is an NYC-based multidisciplinary artist whose work transcends boundaries: blending music, theatre, dance, and visual storytelling into transformative experiences. As an artist & academic, her work explores queer love, identity, belonging & healing. She combines performance and theory to entice us to enjoy the pleasures of life while healing from the prickly pains. With a diverse background that bridges East and West, she has captivated audiences across the globe, using her talents to explore themes of identity, resilience, empowerment, love and healing. She regularly performs in NYC with her jazz/soul band; produces immersive theatrical concerts; and teaches trauma-informed yoga and guided meditation with live music. Her debut album, (Be)loved, which explores the journey of healing through love, will be released next year under her music artist name, PRIYA.
Priya’s performances span a wide array of genres—including jazz, opera, R&B, soul, musical theatre, folk, rock, and pop. She has portrayed iconic roles like Cinderella and mesmerized audiences with her burlesque acts and melodic soprano voice. She has performance experience in classical music, dance and theatre for over ten years in over ten countries. She has trained with the American Ballet Theatre, Conservatoire Populaire de Genève and UC Berkeley Departments of Music; Film; and Theatre, Dance & Performance Studies. In addition to her artistic endeavors, Priya integrates trauma-informed yoga, meditation, sound healing and spirituality into her work. By offering spaces that nurture spiritual and emotional growth, she invites both audiences and students to engage in their own personal transformations, using art as a tool for healing and self-discovery.
