In response to the historic gathering on Broadway's dimming of the lights for Hinton Battle March 12th, on Monday, June 10th, 2024, the Broadway community will come together again in New York City for the inaugural HINTON BATTLE - DAY OF DANCE.

On March 12, 2024, the Committee of Theatre Owners will dim all the lights of Broadway theatres in New York for one minute at exactly 6:45pm, in his honor.

The Broadway community will honor the memory of Hinton Battle on March 12 by dimming the lights of Broadway theatres.

Just over three weeks ago, on January 30, BroadwayWorld sadly reported the passing of three-time Tony Award winner Hinton Battle. Now, Broadway stars are speaking up on social media about the lack of announcement from the Broadway League about theatre lights dimming in his honor. 

The Board of Trustees of Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation today announced that Robert Battle, Artistic Director of Ailey since 2011, has informed them that he needs to focus on his health and has submitted his resignation.

Ida B.
