BIO
MARA McGHEE is an exceptionally versatile theatre artist and educator whose career spans over 15 years of performance, direction, and production management. A classically trained performer with a BFA in Acting Performance from Drake University, Mara has appeared in over 300 productions across musical theatre, improvisation, and dramatic works.
Her extensive acting credits include standout roles in *Speeding Motorcycle*, *Bootycandy*, and *The Tamarie Cooper Show* at The Catastrophic Theatre, as well as performances in *Hair*, *Rent*, and *Aida*. A specialist in improvisation, Mara is a current member of Just US, Houston’s premiere all-Black woman improv group, and has been a mainstage player for *T.I.M. (The Improvised Musical)* and ComedySportz in both Houston and Milwaukee.
Beyond the stage, Mara is a prolific director and producer. She co-founded All In Productions in Milwaukee, where she served as Co-Artistic Director and oversaw award-nominated productions like *Little Shop of Horrors* and *Dogfight*. Her directing portfolio features a wide range of works, including *The Addams Family Musical*, *Angel Street*, and *A Behanding in Spokane*.
Mara also holds an MS in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a degree that informs her strategic approach to program development and theater operations. Currently serving as the Theatre Arts Assistant Director at Taylor High School in Houston, she has earned TIA Exemplary status for her work in education and production leadership. Whether she is managing complex logistics for an off-Broadway premiere in New York City or mentoring the next generation of artists, Mara remains a dedicated advocate for the transformative power of the arts.
