BWW Review: Pan Origin Story PETER AND THE STARCATCHER at Ridgefield Theater Barn
by Bruce Apar - Jun 9, 2022
The show made a splash on Broadway a dozen years ago, garnering several Tony Awards, mainly in the craft categories (scenic design, sound, lighting, choreography). The sketchy book is like a sketchbook of rapid-fire episodes that leans heavily on the strength of the ensemble to pull it off. This ensemble is more than up to the task.
BWW Review: PETER AND THE STAR CATCHER at Ridgefield Theater Barn
by Sean Fallon - Jun 4, 2022
On Friday, June 3, I had the pleasure of seeing PETER AND THE STAR CATCHER at the Ridgefield Theater Barn in Ridgefield, CT. This play with music was written by Rick Elise. This stellar cast’s talents come alive under the first-rate team of director Katherine Ray, assistant director Rae Janeil Sutherland and choreographer Sharon Houk. It is not a musical in the traditional sense, but the use of song is incorporated throughout, resembling a musical in certain parts. It is obvious that these cast members are having a wonderful time up on stage, bringing positive energy that radiates throughout the audience, with excellent stage chemistry between the cast.

by Stephi Wild - Dec 2, 2019
The Sherman Playhouse will be performing Jack and the Beanstalk A Very British Panto starting December 6 just in time for the holidays. This Traditional British Panto returns to Sherman! Oh yes it does! Jack and the Beanstalk is one of the UK's favorite pantos, filled with spectacle, songs and good family fun. Falling on hard times good-hearted dreamer Jack is sent by his mother, Dame Trott to market to sell his faithful, sweet-natured cow Daisy. Meanwhile Fleshcreep, the Giant's wicked henchman is sent to terrorize the kingdom and kidnap the Princess, stealing her away to his master's castle in the clouds. Why does Jack exchange Daisy for a bag of magic beans? Will the Princess be rescued from Fleshcreep's evil clutches? Can the Giant be defeated and the kingdom freed? Find out as Jack climbs the beanstalk to adventure aided by his silly brother, a good fairy and a bumbling King with his dimwitted guards! There'll be music, dancing, magic, thrills, spills and jokes coming thick and fast! Fun for all the family where the audience is definitely encouraged to join in the silliness!
