Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater’s 65th anniversary season kicks off New York City Center engagement celebrating legendary artistic director emerita Judith Jamison on Wednesday, November 29.

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, presents five world premieres in the culmination of Joffrey's national call for ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab, and Native American) artists to submit applications for the Joffrey Academy's Winning Works Choreographic Competition.

Embracing people everywhere in the city that is its home, the Ailey organization will once again offer Ailey Moves NYC!, presenting six days of free performances, dance classes, and workshops throughout the city’s five boroughs.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater kicks off its 2022 holiday season engagement with a start-studded one-night only gala benefit on Wednesday, November 30 at 7pm, complete with an exceptional performance at New York City Center followed by a dinner-party at the Ziegfeld Ballroom.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, New York City Center's Principal Dance Company and America's cultural ambassador to the world, has announced highlights of its always-anticipated annual season at New York City Center. Returning to its “home” theater for four weeks November 30 - December 24, 2022, the Ailey company will present a world premiere by Kyle Abraham, the company premiere of Twyla Tharp's Roy's Joys, and a new production of Alvin Ailey's Survivors.

This spring, the Times Square Alliance will ramp up their plaza programming, marking the district’s most robust season of open-air live offerings to-date. TSQ LIVE will feature music, dance, comedy and more—free and accessible to the growing number of New Yorkers and visitors alike headed to the Crossroads of the World.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater kicked off its three-week 2021 homecoming season December 1 with a one-night only gala benefit complete with an inspirational performance at New York City Center and star-studded dinner-party at the Ziegfeld Ballroom. 

Broadwayworld had the pleasure of recently attending a sampling of the Ailey Extension classes. During the 60-minute session we enjoyed three dance techniques that offered by the renowned education program.

Ailey Extension has kicked off National Physical Fitness Month with an invitation for people around the world to have fun being fit and fabulous during in an array of virtual classes and special workshops. 

The Ailey organization is furthering the pioneering vision of its founder by “bringing dance back to the people” and lifting spirits through Ailey All Access, a series of online offerings including streaming of free performance broadcasts, Ailey Extension dance and fitness classes, and more.

In conjunction with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's first-ever virtual season (December 2-31, 2020), Ailey Extension is inviting dancers of all experience levels the chance to learn Ailey choreography from former Company members. Novice and experienced dancers alike are welcome to join virtual workshops to learn excerpts from Alvin Ailey's most celebrated works including Night Creature and Revelations. These workshops allow dancers to be part of a historic global experience as they come together with Ailey fans from around the world to revel in the global impact of Ailey's works and celebrate the 60th anniversary of the timeless American masterpiece Revelations.

The Ailey organization continues to share the Ailey spirit with people wherever they are during this challenging time through Ailey All Access a?" free online streaming series featuring performances of full length works from the repertory, Ailey Extension dance classes, and original short films created by the Ailey dancers, and other especially created content.

The Auditorium Theatre's Visiting Resident Company Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to Chicago March 4-8, 2020 with Midwest premieres, Chicago premieres, and new productions of classic works.

As the Ailey organization heads into its 60th year, Ailey Extension will offer a variety of indoor and outdoor dance classes free to the public this summer. In collaboration with the NYC Parks, Ailey Extension brings dance to public parks in Brooklyn and the Bronx from June 5-July 14, offering eight technique and choreography workshops, including events dedicated to Alvin Ailey's acclaimed masterpiece Revelations. To celebrate NYC Dance Week, a citywide festival from June 14-23, Ailey Extension welcomes new students* to try over 30 free classes at The Ailey Studios in Manhattan, New York City's largest building dedicated to dance.  

BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival is pleased to present a free performance by the world-renowned and ever-creative dance company, Pilobolus, on Thursday, July 6. The performance will take place at the Prospect Park Bandshell (9th St. & Prospect Park West), is free to the public (with a suggested $5 contribution at the gate) and begins at 8:00 P.M.

For more than four decades, the renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has graced the New York City Center stage, sharing the transformative power of dance. Returning this season, New Yorkers can experience dance on and off stage by partaking in a special offer, Ticket to Dance. The promotion allows audience members to try their first Ailey Extension class free with an Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater performance ticket (offer expires after 60 days). Returning Ailey Extension students also receive a free class with the purchase of a 10-class card.

The Auditorium Theatre's annual Chicago presentation of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will bring a wide array of premieres, new productions, and classics to life on its landmark stage Tuesday, March 8 through Sunday, March 13.

On June 12, 2013, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, one of the world's most popular dance companies, kicked off its seven performance engagement at the David H. Koch Theater. The performance marked the Company's historic return to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for the first time in over a decade and its first engagement there led by Artistic Director Robert Battle.
