The Perelman Performing Arts Center has revealed complete casting for Watch Night at the new performing arts center at the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan. 

Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC), the cultural cornerstone and final public element of the World Trade Center site, will open with its first public performance on Tuesday, September 19, 2023.

New York Stage and Film announced UGBA as the 2023 recipient of the Founders’ Award and JaMeeka Holloway as the recipient of this year’s Pfaelzer Award. The NYSAF summer season at Marist College, which begins July 14 and runs to August 6, will also include the creation of the Indigenous Voices of the Northeast Residency.

 This month marks the launch of New Black Fest at the Apollo, a festival celebrating contemporary Black playwrights from across the nation. On April 22, 23, and 25 at 7pm, audiences will have the opportunity to see original works by 18 playwrights, each commissioned by the Apollo and New Black Fest co-founder Keith Josef Adkins. 

The 2022 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has been awarded to U.K. playwright Benedict Lombe for her debut play Lava. In a special presentation at Shakespeare's Globe in London, the Blackburn Prize judges presented Lombe with a cash prize of $25,000, and a signed limited-edition print by renowned artist Willem de Kooning, created especially for the Prize. 

New York Theatre Workshop  announced today that due to positive COVID tests in the company, all performances of On Sugarland by Obie Award winner Aleshea Harris (Is God Is, What to Send Up When It Goes Down) have been cancelled through Sunday February 20, 2022. Performances will resume Tuesday February 22.

New York Theatre Workshop announced today a change to the performance schedule for On Sugarland. Previews, which were set to begin on Wednesday February 2, 2022, will now start on Thursday February 3 to allow the team more time for technical rehearsals. Four projects representing diverse world voices, each with bold and independent visions of how art can elevate the human experience, comprise this year's selected projects for the two-week Sundance Institute Theatre Lab at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA), convening December 3-17, 2017, with a public performance of another project slated for December 9. The Theatre Labs process is rigorous and generative. Dedicated to the creation and development of forward-thinking theater; projects are cast individually, rehearsed daily and benefit from concentrated, uninterrupted time and resources.
