City Lit Theater’s 42nd season will begin in October with the world premiere of THE MARK OF KANE, by Chicago playwright/actor Mark Pracht, directed by City Lit Artistic Director Terry McCabe. THE MARK OF KANE will begin performances on October 21 and will play through December 4, 2022.

The Artistic Home Ensemble today announced the cast for its final production of the 2018-19 season - the Chicago premiere of Lauren Gunderson's ADA AND THE ENGINE, which was given its world premiere by Central Works Theater Company of Berkeley, California in 2015. ADA AND THE ENGINE is an historical drama about Ada, the daughter of the poet Lord Byron, and Ada's friend and soul-mate, Charles Babbage, inventor of the first mechanical computer.

Rod Serling's REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT, a drama of a punch-drunk fighter long past his prime, was originally written as a play, but first became a landmark live television drama of the "golden age" starring Jack Palance. The Artistic Home will open its 2017-18 season with a lesser known, but wholly timely piece: WEDDING BAND: A LOVE/HATE STORY IN BLACK AND WHITE, by eminent African-American playwright and author Alice Childress. It opened to the press on Sunday, October 29 and will run through December 17, 2017. Last seen in Chicago in 2003 in a co-production between Steppenwolf and Congo Square Theatre, its first-ever showing here thirty years prior was but one stop in this play's march toward due recognition.
