National Dance Institute (NDI) will celebrate the life of Dr. Maya Angelou at 'RISE,' their 2023 Event of the Year from June 17-19 at NYU Skirball Center. This event will include vibrant performances of dance and live music from over 100 talented children from New York City public schools.

 A street in New York City has been named in commemoration of the life and achievements of Jacques d’Amboise, legendary ballet dancer and founder of the arts education organization National Dance Institute (NDI).

National Dance Institute’s 46th Annual Gala raised over $1.5 million to support its award-winning arts education programs that reach 60,000 children every year.  The event featured performances by children from New York City public schools who benefit from NDI’s arts education programs.

National Dance Institute is welcoming Fredrick Earl Mosley as its Helen Stambler Neuberger Artist-in-Residence for 2021-2022. The one-year residency supports the creative process of an artist of color and is designed to cultivate racially diverse artistry throughout NDI's programming.

National Dance Institute has announced that Juan José Escalante has joined as Executive Director. Mr. Escalante is well known in the field of dance and the arts. He brings extensive experience in non-profit leadership to NDI, having served most recently as Executive Director of José Limón Dance Foundation.

The highly anticipated Broadway revival of Eugene O'Neill's HUGHIE starring Academy Award winner, Golden Globe Award winner & BAFTA winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, The Butler, Southpaw) and Tony Award winner Frank Wood (Side Man, Angels In America, Clybourne Park), officially opened last night, February 25, 2016, at Broadway's Booth Theatre (222 West 45 Street). Directed by Tony Award winner and Olivier Award winner Michael Grandage (Photograph 51, Red, Frost/Nixon), HUGHIE will play a strictly limited engagement.
