Seymour Centre Announces Part One Of 2021 Season

Seymour Centre has announced the first three shows of its 2021 season, playing from February to June, plus an exciting new play in development presented as part of Sydney Festival.


A week before lockdown was announced, some of our greatest playwrights were asked to write stories exploring every aspect of human life and interaction during the coronavirus pandemic. As part of BBC Arts' Culture in Quarantine initiative, all plays were filmed and produced during lockdown, with all fourteen plays now available on the BBC iPlayer. Episode One takes three very different situations and begins with the most successful of the three; James Graham's Viral.


BBC Arts has joined award-winning theatre company Headlong and BAFTA winning Century Films, as broadcast partner for Unprecedented: Real Time Theatre from a State of Isolation, a series of short, digital plays written and performed in isolation, which will be broadcast across the nation during lockdown as part of Culture in Quarantine.

Steep Theatre Extends RED REX Nine Performances

With the original run and first extension completely sold out, Steep Theatre is extending the run of Ike Holter's Red Rex through March 30. Jack Miggins, who was nominated for a Jeff Award for his work in Steep's 2014 production of The Vandal, will join the cast in the role of Adam beginning on March 13. Tickets are on sale now at, and they're expected to sell very quickly.

RED REX Extended Through March At Steep Theatre

With the original run completely sold out, Steep Theatre is extending the run of Ike Holter's Red Rex through March 16 and adding Wednesday evening performances to the schedule beginning February 6. Tickets are on sale now at, and they're expected to sell very quickly. 

Photo Flash: First Look at RED REX at Steep Theatre

In January, Steep Ensemble Member Jonathan Berry returns to Steep to direct the world premiere of Ike Holter's Red Rex, the sixth play in Holter's seven-play "Rightlynd Saga" about Chicago. Since the 2012 production of his Hit the Wall, Holter's work has gained increasing national and international attention. In describing the "Rightlynd Saga," Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune opined that it "might just be one of the most significant literary achievements in modern-day Chicago." Holter's play Rightlynd, part of the seven-play saga, is currently in production at Victory Gardens Theatre, and his Lottery Day, the final play in the saga, premieres in the Spring of 2019 at the Goodman Theatre. Director Jonathan Berry has been at the helm of many of Steep's most memorable shows, including the recent smash-hit production of Simon Stephens' Birdland.

A ferocious new version of Moliere's comic masterpiece, Tartuffe, by John Donnelly, directed by Blanche McIntyre will open in February in the Lyttelton Theatre. Denis O'Hare makes his NT debut as Tartuffe, and is joined by Kevin Doyle as Orgon and Olivia Williams as Elmire.
