Greer Gisy Biography
Greer Gisy is an NYC-based performing artist. As the choreographer and creative consultant, she was responsible for setting Andy Blankenbuehler’s original Broadway choreography on the Brazilian cast of IN THE HEIGHTS in São Paulo, one of her 8 productions of the show to date. She has taught at Alvin Ailey, R.Evolución Latina, Broadway Dance Center, Texas State University, and London's Pineapple Studios and D & B College. Recently she served as associate director on three productions, and associate choreographer on four productions of IN THE HEIGHTS under Mark Stuart and Michael Balderrama. In addition to those duties, she was dance/fight captain on each production as well as the dance captain for EVITA under the direction and choreography of Nick Kenkel.She helped create movement and content for the world premiere of WHEN CHANGE COMES conceived, directed, and choreographed by Mark Stuart and Jaime Verazin. Greer was Lorin Latarro’s associate choreographer for both of Public Theatre's Public Works productions of TWELFTH NIGHT at Shakespeare in the Park, and serves annually as the Associate and Resident Supervising Choreographer for McCarter Theater's renowned A CHRISTMAS CAROL. That's how Michael Balderrama, resident director and choreographer of In The Heights, has described the cast for the Second National Tour of the musical, who started rehearsals in New York last month. A brand new cast has been gathered to bring the award-winning show across the States. 'All of them are fresh, from top to bottom, there's no one who has been on the show before,' Balderrama explains.
