Eric Stanton Betts BIO

Eric is originally from Milan, Michigan where he grew up playing sports and performing on stage with local theatre companies in the Ann Arbor area. He spent years running cross-country and track, as well as diving and playing basketball. When high school rolled around, Eric’s presence in the theatre grew as did his passion for the performing arts. One May, Eric’s parents, Jim and Marty, took the family to New York City to see RENT on Broadway, and as clichê as it sounds, that’s when Eric knew he wanted to perform for a living.

Eric graduated high school with honors and was the Class Salutatorian at graduation and Class President three years in a row. He went on to attend college in The Big Apple at Marymount Manhattan College School of Liberal Arts where he studied Theatre and Communications with a concentration in Film and Television. Eric also performed in Off-Broadway productions in the city and the surrounding areas of Westchester and New Jersey.

After graduating from Marymount Manhattan College, Eric moved to Chicago, IL for the summer where he signed with FORD Models. At summer’s end he continued west to Los Angeles where he currently resides full time.

Eric signed with LA Models while still in college in NYC and began his modeling career at a young age shooting for companies like Teen Vogue, Seventeen, Kohl’s, and Macy’s. While living on the east coast, Eric also signed with Q Models NY. Months after arriving to LA, Eric signed with his first talent agency, Rebel Entertainment Partners, as part of their theatrical division in Film and TV.

Despite leaving the musical theatre capital of the world, Eric has continued to perform on stage in musicals like Annie Get Your Gun, Catch Me If You Can, In The Heights and The Little Mermaid all over Southern California from San Diego to Thousand Oaks. Eric was also one of the Angels in the 2nd National Tour of Broadway’s Kinky Boots and an emergency replacement on the 2019 National tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s EVITA. He was also seen in the 100 Year Anniversary season at the world famous Hollywood Bowl’s summer production of Kinky Boots and the world premiere of Three Tables at the Zephyr Theatre; written and directed by Murray Mednick.

Eric has now starred in a handful of feature films and continues to pursue roles on TV and in film.

Eric is part of the Q Models-LA board and he’s represented theatrically by Eris Talent Agency and Artistic Endeavors Talent Management. He’s a member of both SAG-AFTRA and Actor’s Equity.

Eric is a mixed BIPOC artist proudly representing the Afro-Indigenous community as the child of a mixed race marriage and a direct descendant of the Cherokee Nation on his father’s side.

BWW Review: 3-D Theatricals Gets Glam with its Fun, Fierce, and Fabulous KINKY BOOTS

There are certainly plenty of movie-to-stage adaptations that have appeared (and continue to pop up) on Broadway, but few can boast being one of the most jubilant and unabashedly open-minded as the gloriously glam 2012 hit KINKY BOOTS, the Tony Award-winning stage musical adaptation of Geoff Deane and Tim Firth's 2005 independent cult film inspired by actual true events. The critical and audience favorite---which features memorable music from Grammy-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper and a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein---enjoyed a healthy run on Broadway and in several national tours that followed, spreading its genuinely heartwarming yet cheekily-delivered message of acceptance and empathy. Now back in Southern California for its flashy, beautifully remounted West Coast regional premiere for 3-D Theatricals, KINKY BOOTS---now continuing performances through March 1, 2020 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts---is just as fun and fabulous as ever.

BWW Review: KINKY BOOTS Tour Struts Into Segerstrom Center for the Arts

For the most part, the brief Orange County return of the Tony Award-winning musical smash KINKY BOOTS---which continues its quick week-long stop at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through February 11---pretty much preserves its hard-to-escape fabulousness. Its current incarnation as a non-Equity bus-and-truck tour---now presented by Troika Entertainment, but retains many of the original's main elements---only feels slightly different from previous productions you've likely seen. The musical's endearing narrative, its vibrant main characters, and the ear-candy confections concocted by pop superstar Cyndi Lauper all combine to showcase a fun and genuinely lovable musical that celebrates living one's authentic self… triumphantly.

BWW Review: KINKY BOOTS at Robinson Performance Hall-The Most Beautiful Thing in the World is watching this amazing cast shine like a sequined covered stiletto!

Kinky Boots struts it's stuff right into Little Rock. The 2013 Tony winner for Best musical is a joyous, funny and timely show that entertains even the straightest of laces. It's amazing how much more important the message of the show seems right now.
