National Tour Dancers Recreate Famous Fred Estaire and Eleanor Powell Video


Elish Conlon (White Christmas Natl. Tour) and Tim Fuchs (42nd Street Natl. Tour) teamed up to recreate and film the Jukebox Dance from the classic movie Broadway Melody of the 1940's with Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell. With the help of Katharine Ponza (Tap dance faculty at Broadway Dance Center), Elish learned the dance and taught it to Tim. They both then re-imagined the dance to fit their original concept. This video is meant to honor the directors, performers, behind the scenes crew and highlight the brilliant choreography that made those movies magical. Filmed at the Tarrytown Music Hall, Tarrytown NY. Elish, Tim, Sierra, and Tyler want wish everyone a Happy New year full of blessings!

Milestone's Award-Winning Dance Films Restored; Will Receive Theatrical Premiere


Milestone Films announces the restoration from the original camera negatives and the theatrical release of No Maps on My Taps and About Tap, two seminal documentaries by George T. Nierenberg that helped revitalize tap dancing in the early 1980s. The films will premiere July 7 at the Quad Cinema to coincide with New York's annual citywide Tap City festival.

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce the continuation of the fourth season of Chicago's hit "lost" musicals in staged concert series, Porchlight Revisits Little Me, music by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Carolyn Leigh and book by Neil Simon based on the novel by Patrick Dennis, with direction by Porchlight Artistic Director Michael Weber, musical direction by Linda Madonia, choreography by Craig Miller with special guest choreography by veteran Bob Fosse dancer Jane Lanier and starring Jeff Award-winner Matt Crowle. Porchlight Revisits Little Me is presented for three-nights-only Tuesday, Feb. 28 through Thursday, March 2 at 7:15 p.m. and is performed on the set of Porchlight's The Scottsboro Boys (previews begin Friday, Feb. 3) at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. Tickets for Little Me are $35. All tickets include access to the popular pre-performance event, Behind the Show Backstory, a multimedia presentation, created and hosted by Weber that discusses that evening's production including the show's creative history, backstage gossip and the state of the art on Broadway that season. Valentine's-Weekend NJSO Pops Concerts Feature Song-and-Dance Standards from Hollywood's Golden Age


The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra presents song-and-dance standards from the golden age of Hollywood musicals in a Valentine's-weekend pops program, February 10-12 in Red Bank, Newark and New Brunswick. Broadway veterans Joan Hess and Kirby Ward join the Orchestra and guest conductor Gemma New, performing classics inspired by Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly and Eleanor Powell.

Since winning hearts during his stint on Strictly Come Dancing, partnered by Flavia Cacace, actor and astrologer Russell Grant has starred in Hairspray, Grease and The Wizard of Oz. He's now hosting The Golden Age of Dance, a celebration of great dance numbers from classic films like Top Hat, Follow the Fleet, Swing Time and Shall We Dance, featuring a company of West End dancers and The Novello Orchestra. After her breakout performance as Ruby in last season's toe-tapping revival of Dames At Sea, Eloise Kropp joins a cast of exceptional dancers and singers in the new Broadway revival of CATS. CATS marks Eloise's third Broadway show in just two years, having also danced in the ensemble of the hit revival of On The Town. But it was her expert tap dancing skills in Dames that really put her on the map. In her big number 'Star Tar,' she executed lightning fast and intricate tap rhythms worthy of Eleanor Powell and Ann Miller from MGM's musical heyday.
