Revolutionising musical theatre when it first premiered in 1963, Joan Littlewood’s Oh What A Lovely War found humour in expressing its anti-war sentiments to songs popular for the period, even garnering a film adaptation directed by Richard Attenborough.

When I began re-reading the original material I instantly felt drawn to a circus backdrop in terms of design and aesthetic. A troop of entertainers, from the Ringmaster to the clowns, coming together to put on a show in a worn-out tent filled with the ammunition needed to put on a touring show, travelling away from home.

The smash-hit Only Fools and Horses The Musical is to close at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket on Saturday 29 April after four incredible years – making it the longest running production staged in the Theatre Royal’s 200+ year history.

Paul Whitehouse will return to the cast of the smash hit West End show Only Fools and Horses The Musical next year, starring once again as the lovable Grandad from 9 January. The critically acclaimed musical is also extending its run at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket for a further three months until 29 April.

This May, Mikron Theatre Company will mark the 100th anniversary of women in the UK being allowed to vote, with the premiere of Revolting Women -Vashti Maclachlan's new play about the suffragette story as seen through the eyes of the political activist and campaigner for women's rights Sylvia Pankhurst.

Following their hugely successful touring productions of In at The Deep End and Best Foot Forward, the award winning Mikron Theatre are set to take celebrate 70 years of the NHS with the premiere of Ged Cooper's new play Get Well Soon.
