BIO

Ben is thrilled beyond words to be making his Broadway debut, after originating the role of Elder Cunningham in the show's Chicago production (BroadwayWorld Chicago Award, Best Actor in a Touring Production). Platt made his onscreen debut as ‘Benji Applebaum’ in the smash hit Pitch Perfect (Teen Choice Award Nomination "Movie Scene Stealer") and will reprise his role in Pitch Perfect 2. Platt will also appear alongside Meryl Streep in the film Ricki and The Flash (dir. Jonathan Demme, Diablo Cody). National Tours: Caroline, or Change. Regional: The Black Suits (Barrington Stage), The Power of Duff (NYSF), Dead End (Ahmanson), The Music Man, Mame, Camelot, and The Sound of Music (Hollywood Bowl). Workshops/Readings: Murder at the Gates, Alice By Heart, Irma La Douce (dir. Rob Ashford), Bridges of Madison County

When Stephen Christopher Anthony first saw the show DEAR EVAN HANSEN, he marveled at the performance of Benjamin Platt, his former cast mate in THE BOOK OF MORMON, in the title role. Platt went on to win the 2017 Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his portrayal of Hansen.
