Am’Ber D. Montgomery (she/her) is a Chicago-based director, educator, creative producer, and multidisciplinary artist from Detroit, Michigan.
Am’Ber is a former Associate Artistic Director and ensemble member of Shattered Globe Theatre.
AmBer has directed/assisted productions with The Goodman, Writers Theatre, Gr, Penumbra Theatre Company, the Guthrie Theater, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Shattered Globe Theatre, TimeLine Theatre, Steep Theatre, and American Players Theatre. AmBer’s practice now extends into immersive entertainment , where she brings the same theatrical rigor to building worlds audiences can enter, shape, and share. As an Associate Creative Producer with Culture House Immersive, she contributes to narrative-driven live experiences that place fandom, culture, community, and audience involvement at their center. She is interested in the space between performance and participation: experiences that feel communal, atmospheric, and alive with possibility.
AmBer was a 2020 FAIR Assistant at Oregon Shakespeare Festival, a 2018 Steppenwolf Theatre Company Education/SYA Fellow, and a Penumbra Theatre Company Summer Institute intern in Pedagogies for Social Change. She holds a BFA in Acting from the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater Actor Training Program and has trained with The Globe Theatre in London and LISPA International School for Performing Arts in Berlin.
