the moon rituals is a cathartic comedy for anyone who's ever had pain in the "wrong" places. Sick of their pelvic pain, five friends form an amateur witches’ coven to cast a healing spell in their vacation rental... and accidentally summon a demon, setting off a cascade of rituals that can only end when they realize the demon isn't the only one who can make the rules. Why a comedy? We’re a majority-disabled production team creating the story we need. Laughter is good medicine—and this play is hilarious whether you have pelvic pain or not. We could all use a good laugh, a good story about standing up to our demons, but if you have experienced this kind of pain you might have also experienced the shame and isolation that society heaps on people—especially people marginalized genders—whose bodies hurt. The laughter this play creates, alongside and intertwined with its primal scream, offers recognition, catharsis, and a joyful way to feel a little less alone.
