“RITE” is a healing ceremony, a meditative ritual, and an exorcism of the ego.
Choreographed by Artistic Director Valerie Green, VG/DE’s newest evening length work performed by six men is a physical invocation of our internal struggle with self-image and societal pressure, and the vulnerable journey from Form to Clarity. The dancers’ instinct drives this powerful, trance-based dance, isolating them from one another—they experience both a personal and collective spiritual catharsis. Inspired by shamanic journeying and altered states of consciousness, “RITE invites us to contemplate our individual struggles and release our attachments to Body and Thought. Join us as we discover what lies beyond our own limitations..
"RITE offers an explosive appreciation of the human experience and captures what is trapped within our mind and soul, giving us an opportunity to reflect and delve into our own struggles and being”
