When a daytime mushroom and a nighttime mushroom with different routines bump into each other, they learn to see the world through each other’s eyes. The performance runs approximately 30 minutes and is free to attend. It is developed as part of New Victory LabWorks at the New Victory Theater, powered by New 42.

'The Mushroomers' was created by Eat the Peadies, an Astoria-based theatre group founded by husband-and-wife duo Zonia Tsang and Jeff Wildermuth. Both are graduates of the NYU Musical Theatre Writing Program, where they learned to tell stories through music.
This is a work-in-progress performance of a new theatre piece. We’re still in the exploration stage, and workshopping is the best way to gather audience feedback and discover what’s working—and what isn’t. We held three workshops earlier this year, and the piece is now in a later stage of development.

Daytime mushroom
Jeff Wildermuth is a writer for screen, sketch, and musical theater, as well as a producer and performer, from outside of Washington, DC. He holds a BA in Music Composition from Haverford College and MFAs in Musical Theater Writing from NYU Tisch and Screenwriting from the University of Texas at Austin. He has had his work performed at Lincoln Center, Goodspeed Opera House, Two River Theater, the Upright Citizens Brigade, and the PIT NYC, among others.
Zonia Tsang
Nighttime mushroom
Zonia Tsang is a New York-based playwright, musical theater composer, and devised performance artist from Hong Kong. She is a 2024–25 New Victory LabWorks artist. Her work with Erin J. Reifler has been recognized by Disney Imagineering’s New Voices Project and the Dramatists Guild. She co-founded Eat the Peadies, creating accessible theatre for very young audiences in Astoria, NY.
